The court sentenced one defendant to death, a second to life imprisonment, and a third to 20 years in prison, while clearing the fourth defendant of all charges. On March 6, 2025, Syria's coastal provinces of Latakia and Tartus witnessed coordinated attacks by loyalists of the deposed Bashar al-Assad regime. The trial follows coordinated March 2025 attacks across Syria’s coastal region by loyalists of deposed President Bashar al-Assad. Bashar al-Assad, who ruled Syria for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia on Dec. 8, 2024, ending the Baath Party’s decades-long rule that began in 1963. A transitional administration led by Sharaa was formed in January 2025.
