A 2-and-a-half-year-old Palestinian child, Rayan Abu al-Ajin, was killed in an Israeli strike targeting a group of civilians east of Deir al-Balah while he was walking with his father. The child’s body was taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the city. His father, Baha Abu al-Ajin, who was injured in the foot in the same attack, bid farewell to his son at the hospital. More than 9,600 Palestinians, including 350 children and 73 women, are currently held in Israeli prisons and face torture, starvation and medical neglect, according to Palestinian and Israeli rights organizations. Since the start of Israel’s genocide on Gaza on Oct. 8, 2023, nearly 73,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 173,000 injured, while about 90 percent of the territory’s civilian infrastructure has been destroyed.
