BODY BEING CARRIED AND TRANSFERRED TO VEHICLE FOR BURIALGAZA, PALESTINE - MAY 3, 2026: A Palestinian man, Ahmed Ramadan Heresh, 46, has died on Sunday, May 3, after being seriously wounded by Israeli gunfire in the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip, despite a ceasefire. Heresh was taken to Al-Shifa Hospital after being wounded in the shooting, but later succumbed to his injuries. His brother, Nidal Ramadan Heresh, told Anadolu that Ahmed had been forcibly displaced but wished to return to Jabalia, adding that they had met two days earlier in the Zawayda area. He said his brother had gone in the morning to the area where relatives were staying in tents when he was shot. Describing the incident, Nidal Heresh said civilians in the area were being targeted and called on the international community to intervene to stop the ongoing Israeli attacks in Gaza. Israel has continued to commit daily violations of a ceasefire deal that was signed last October, killing 828 Palestinians and injuring 2,342, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The ceasefire was meant to end a two-year Israeli onslaught on Gaza, which left more than 72,000 dead and 172,000 wounded, and destroyed 90% of civilian infrastructure.
