Teams from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) received the released individuals and transferred them to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah for medical checks. One of the released detainees, Kamel al-Jenda, described severe humanitarian conditions inside Israeli confinement facilities, pointing out an acute shortage of food and essential hygiene products such as soap. ICRC spokesperson Emani en-Nauk confirmed the transfer and stated that teams successfully facilitated immediate communication and reunions between the detainees and their families. Nauk added that the organization has mediated the transfer and reunification of more than 2,500 released Palestinians since 2023. These periodic releases occur under the framework of the prisoner exchange agreement that Hamas and Israel signed on October 13, 2025. More than 9,600 Palestinians, including 350 children and 73 women, are currently held in Israeli prisons and face torture, starvation and medical neglect, according to Palestinian and Israeli rights organizations. Since the start of Israel’s genocide on Gaza on Oct. 8, 2023, nearly 73,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 173,000 injured, while about 90 percent of the territory’s civilian infrastructure has been destroyed.
