Az-Zāwiyah, Libya - August 12, 2026 An FPV drone of unknown origin reportedly struck the main electricity substation in Zawiya, western Libya, late Monday, sparking a large fire and causing power outages in several areas, according to local sources. Footage showed a plume of smoke rising from the facility as air-defense guns at Camp 77 were reportedly activated in an attempt to intercept additional drones targeting the area. The incident is the latest in a series of reported drone attacks on critical infrastructure in Zawiya, including oil and energy facilities.
