Italy: Divers Rescue Frightened Stag Trapped In Italian Canal.

Castano Primo, Italy - October 06, 2026 Firefighters rescued a five-year-old male stag after it became trapped in the Canale Villoresi on Tuesday, October 6. Footage filmed by the Vigili del Fuoco shows the stag swimming against the concrete wall of the canal, with its head and back above the green water. The animal has a full rack of antlers as it struggles to move along the canal. Divers from the Milan fire command carried out the rescue with support from volunteers from Inveruno. The operation was particularly difficult because the frightened animal could have been injured during the recovery. Once the stag was brought onto the bank, a veterinarian checked it before the animal was handed over to provincial police. The rescue took place at the canal near via Olimpiadi. The fire service said its divers recovered the stag and transferred it to the Polizia Provinciale.
