The pope toured some of the city's most significant Christian sites, including the cathedral area, before addressing crowds gathered in public squares. Residents and pilgrims lined the streets and waited behind security barriers as Pope Leo XIV arrived to meet worshippers and local community members. The visit also included cultural events and meetings with representatives of Pavia's South American community. Pope Leo XIV's trip marked the first papal visit to the city since Pope Benedict XVI visited Pavia in 2007.
