Iran: Former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei honored at Tehran memorial service.

VARIOUS OF MOURNERS GATHERED CHANTING AND HOLDING FLAGSTEHRAN, IRAN - JULY 14, 2026: A memorial service was held on Tuesday, July 14, at the Imam Khomeini Musalla Mosque in Tehran, Iran, for the former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The event was attended by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Quds Force Commander Brigadier General Ismail Kaani, and Khamenei's sons Mostafa, Masoud, and Meisam Khamanei. Former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad also attended the service, alongside numerous other political, military, and religious officials. Recitations from the Holy Quran were performed throughout the ceremony. In recent days, Khamenei’s remains were laid to rest in a special designated section at the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad, Iran. Israel and the US launched joint attacks against Iran in February, killing more than 3,000 people. Tehran retaliated with drone and missile strikes against Israel and Gulf countries hosting US assets. Last month, Iran and the US signed a memorandum of understanding under Pakistani mediation aimed at ending their military conflict and reaching a lasting peace agreemen.
