Participants skated along Jenderal Sudirman Street carrying a banner reading “Skateboarding Jakarta Day,” while people of all ages, including children, teenagers and adults, took part in the annual event. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung attended the celebration and reiterated the city administration’s commitment to supporting the development of skateboarding. He announced plans to build new skateboarding and boxing facilities in East Jakarta to provide better infrastructure for athletes and enthusiasts. Pramono also expressed hope for closer cooperation between the Jakarta administration and the skateboarding community to further promote the sport and expand opportunities for participation. Indonesia is among the countries that regularly mark Go Skateboarding Day through various activities, including street parades, best trick competitions, community showcases and urban culture festivals. Observed annually on June 21, Go Skateboarding Day was established in 2004 by the International Association of Skateboard Companies to encourage participation in skateboarding and strengthen skateboarding communities worldwide.
