India: Six Killed After Part of Three-Storey Building Collapses in Mumbai's Mankhurd Amid Heavy Rains.

Mumbai, India - July 06, 2026 At least six people have died and one person has been injured after a portion of a ground-plus-three-storey residential building collapsed in Mumbai's Mankhurd area amid heavy monsoon rains. The incident occurred at around 8:30 p.m. in Chawl No. 5, Janta Nagar, behind Hanuman Temple, where two to three tenements suddenly caved in, trapping residents beneath the debris. Firefighters, police, ambulance services, civic officials, and teams from the National Disaster Response Force are carrying out rescue operations at the site. Authorities said one more person is feared trapped, while heavy rainfall has complicated rescue efforts. According to officials, the six victims include several children. The Maharashtra government has announced an ex gratia payment of ₹4 lakh for the families of those killed in the collapse.
