Firefighters and rescue teams worked extensively to control the blaze and search the affected premises. The incident took place in a coaching institute located in the Purania area of Aliganj, in Lucknow, in northern India's Uttar Pradesh, on June 22. Visuals show that a fire broke out at a coaching institute and forced students to jump from balconies in an attempt to escape the flames. Several people sustained injuries during the incident. The building was engulfed by intense fire and thick smoke. Firefighters later arrived and sprayed water on the structure while police managed crowds and secured the area. Debris from the damaged building could be seen scattered across the street as emergency operations continued. According to reports, the coaching institute was operating from the upper floors of a commercial building in the Purnia area of Aliganj. A major fire broke out at the premises and quickly spread through the structure, triggering panic among students and staff. Eyewitnesses said several students attempted to escape the flames by jumping from the building. Reports indicated that seven to eight students leapt from upper levels during the emergency, while concerns remained that others could still be trapped inside as rescue operations continued. Speaking to Newslions, a Lucknow Emergency Services official stated that Emergency Services responded swiftly to the incident. A total of 14 fire engines, including a hydraulic platform vehicle, were deployed to the location to contain the blaze and assist in rescue efforts. Firefighters worked for several hours to bring the situation under control and search the affected sections of the building. According to official sources, 14 students lost their lives in the incident. The tragedy has raised serious concerns regarding safety measures at educational institutions operating in commercial structures. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak visited the site to review the ongoing rescue and relief operations. Authorities continued their investigation to determine the cause of the fire while support and assistance were being extended to those affected by the incident.
