StringersHub: Occurred on June 4, 2025 / Dehing Patkai National Park, Assam, India Info: Two orphaned Asiatic black bear cubs were successfully released into the wild after months of rehabilitation, marking a significant milestone in wildlife conservation efforts. The cubs had been rescued from Dissoi Reserved Forest in Jorhat district on February 26, 2025, when they were only a few weeks old and found without their mother. After searches failed to locate the mother bear, the cubs were transferred to the Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation (CWRC) in Kaziranga, where they received specialized care and treatment. Visuals show the young bears being transported to the release site before cautiously entering the forest, exploring the vegetation, and gradually disappearing into their natural habitat. Wildlife experts followed strict rehabilitation protocols aimed at preserving the bears’ natural instincts while minimizing human interaction. Following habitat assessments, Dehing Patkai National Park was selected as the most suitable release site due to its dense forest cover, abundant food resources, and limited human disturbance. Conservationists say the successful release highlights the importance of science-based wildlife rehabilitation and offers the orphaned bears a genuine chance to thrive in the wild. We have secured the footages from Sonali Ghosh, Director, Kaziranga National Park, Assam. Restriction:Not Distributable in Germany.
