Gaza Mourners Carry Commander’s Body 15.

Gaza - September 29, 2026 (EDITORS NOTE: Image depicts death) Pallbearers support a stretcher carrying a body wrapped in white and green cloth amid a crowd during a funeral procession in Gaza City, Gaza Strip, on September 29, 2026. The funeral was held for Izz al-Din al-Beik, commander of the northern Gaza brigade of Hamas' armed wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, and a second man killed in an Israeli airstrike on an apartment building in the city's Al-Nasr neighborhood around dawn. Hamas confirmed al-Beik's death. Local news outlet Al-Manassa identified the second man as Muhannad Abu al-Foul, described as al-Beik's aide, and reported that the procession departed from Al-Shifa Hospital. Israeli officials said the operation targeted al-Beik, whom they accused of planning attacks and recruiting fighters.
