VARIOUS OF DAMAGED VEHICLE IN AREADEIR AL-BALAH, PALESTINE - JULY 19, 2026: An Israeli airstrike destroyed several homes in a residential area south of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza on Saturday, July 18. The strike hit the Umm Zuhair neighborhood, causing heavy damage to nearby buildings and forcing many families to leave their homes, witnesses said. Resident Amin al-Lehham said the attack caused “widespread destruction” in the neighborhood and that some families spent the night in open areas. Al-Lehham said Israeli intelligence called a resident and gave people five minutes to evacuate the area, adding that the strike took place about six minutes after the call. Palestinians say Israeli airstrikes, ground operations and the closure of border crossings have deepened the humanitarian crisis in Gaza despite a ceasefire agreement.
