PALESTINIANS SEARCHING THROUGH RUBBLE TO RECOVER THEIR BELONGINGS (TWO SHOTS)DEIR AL-BALAH, GAZA, PALESTINE - JUNE 7, 2026: Israeli warplanes struck a residential area in the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza on Sunday, June 7, causing widespread destruction across the neighborhood. Ahmed Kilab, the owner of one of the destroyed homes, said residents had been ordered to evacuate the area within minutes without being told which location would be targeted, adding that the building was hit by two missiles immediately after they left. Kilab said the strike did not destroy just one house but devastated the entire neighborhood. He added that the four-story building was completely reduced to rubble and that families were unable to save even their clothes or personal belongings before fleeing. Despite growing expectations of a ceasefire, attacks and forced displacement continue across the area, according to Kilab. Palestinians left homeless once again by Israel's ongoing attacks on the Gaza Strip were seen searching through the debris in an effort to recover their belongings. Numerous homes and civilian infrastructure facilities have been damaged or destroyed during Israeli attacks across the enclave. Israel has maintained a blockade on the Gaza Strip, where nearly 1.5 million of the enclave's approximately 2.4 million residents have been displaced and left homeless by the Israeli war. The attacks came amid continued Israeli violations of a ceasefire agreement that took effect on Oct. 10. Since the truce entered into force, over 950 Palestinians have been killed and more than 2,980 others injured in near-daily Israeli attacks, according to Palestinian figures. The agreement came after Tel Aviv's two-year genocidal war in Gaza that killed nearly 73,000 Palestinians and injured more than 173,000 since October 2023.
