Protesters carried Palestinian flags and banners, chanting slogans including “Free Palestine,” and condemned what they described as the mistreatment of flotilla activists by Israeli authorities. Some French activists who participated in the aid mission also attended the demonstration. Hanna Bouchareb, a lawyer representing Global Sumud Flotilla France and the French activists from the mission, announced that legal complaints would be filed in France regarding the treatment activists allegedly faced in international waters and in Israel. Bouchareb said the complaints would include allegations related to violence, sexist abuse, and sexual assault, emphasizing the importance of a judicial investigation to clarify what occurred during the interception of the flotilla. Camille Duprie, another lawyer representing the French activists, called on participants to quickly file complaints with police to help open investigations into the alleged abuses. Duprie also criticized what she described as inconsistent political reactions toward Israeli officials, stating that judicial efforts are important in drawing attention to developments in Gaza. The Global Sumud humanitarian aid flotilla said Tuesday that all 50 vessels in its convoy had been seized by Israel. Türkiye safely evacuated 422 humanitarian aid volunteers from 41 countries, including 85 Turkish citizens who were part of the flotilla, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said late Thursday. The flotilla, carrying 428 people from 44 countries, departed last Thursday from the Turkish district of Marmaris, in a renewed attempt to break the Israeli blockade imposed on Gaza since 2007, pushing most of the population to the brink of starvation.
