China: NW China's Qinghai leads way in green computing power.

Storyline NW China's Qinghai leads way in green computing power Northwest China's Qinghai Province is leading the country and the world in using clean energy to power computer data centers. Thanks to abundant solar, wind and hydroper resources, the province produces enough green electricity to power 90 percent of their main data centers' annual needs, which has reduced CO2 emossions by 158,000 tons, officials said. Part of the region's success is thanks to the Clean Energy and Green Computing Dispatching Center, which keeps tabs on how much green energy is created, and where its needed, during peak demand. Qinghai's efforts are also being tested across the country in data centers in eastern China's Zhejiang Province. The idea is that when centers in the east face peak demand and high prices or insufficient amounts of clean energy, Qinghai can take-over in real-time, migrating workloads to places where there is enough green power.
