Manama, Bahrain - June 24, 2026 Large crowds gathered across Bahrain to commemorate the eighth night of the holy month of Muharram during central mourning ceremonies held in the capital, Manama, ahead of Ashura. The annual rituals included the remembrance of Al-Qasim ibn Al-Hasan and form part of broader commemorations honoring Imam Hussein, the grandson of Prophet Mohammed, who was killed in the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD.
