Crowds gathered in commercial areas across the city on the eve of the holiday, with shoppers visiting butcher shops, sweets stores and dried nuts vendors. Footage showed busy market streets and increased movement in shopping areas as residents prepared for Eid celebrations. Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the most important Islamic holidays, commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. Muslims mark the occasion with prayer, feasting, and acts of charity.
