Algeria: Efforts underway to bind up wounds from forest fires in Algeria's Jijel.

.JIJEL, ALGERIA - AUG. 30, 2026: Humanitarian aid sent from different provinces across Algeria has reached residents affected by forest fires in Jijel province. Aid efforts are continuing in the Natur and Beni Ayse settlements in the Enser area of the Belhadef municipality following the fires. Aid consisting of food, bedding, clothing and medicines sent from different parts of the country was distributed to families affected by the fires. Muhammed Muhalidi, a volunteer who came to the area from Ayn Defla province to assist with the aid efforts, spoke to Anadolu and said they had responded to a call for support for those affected by the fires in Jijel, as well as in Skikda and Bejaia. Hamza Bukruh, who lost his relatives in the fires, said 15 members of the Bukruh family had died, including his father and sister. Local residents whose property was affected by the fire said the flames caused extensive damage to homes and surrounding areas. Some homes' doors and windows were damaged in the fire, while many trees in the area also burned.
