in today's video we're going to be
0:24
talking about first aid and why you
0:27
should be carrying something with you
0:29
all the time time everywhere you go for
0:32
EDC stick around it's going to be a good
0:35
video so part of being prepared is
0:38
having the things that you need with you
0:41
everywhere you go and you know as a guy
0:45
um I've been conditioned to always carry
0:48
my wallet um usually a bandana or a
0:51
hanky of some sort a pocket knife um and
0:56
I've recently started carrying first aid
0:59
with me um wherever I go and that's
1:02
either in my BDU pocket the back pocket
1:04
of my jeans or in the EDC bag that I'm
1:08
carrying at that time now the of course
1:12
the always the big issue with EDC and
1:14
everything that you carry is it gets
1:16
very cumbersome um how much do I bring
1:20
how much do I need well today I want to
1:23
show you a very Bare Bones lightweight
1:27
um nice small package for an ed EDC
1:30
first aid kit and this is what we're
1:31
going to be looking at today this is
1:33
from Rhino rescue this is their EDC
1:35
first aid pouch um it has just the
1:39
basics that's going to get you by um and
1:42
help you treat some minor wounds now of
1:45
course with a kit of this size it is
1:49
just minor wounds we are not talking
1:51
about major bleeds we're not talking
1:53
about trauma we are talking about cuts
1:57
abrasions things of that nature and
1:59
those are important too because when
2:01
you're getting cuts and abrasions on
2:02
your hands if you work with your hands a
2:04
lot um that is an entry point
2:08
for um bacteria and other nasty stuff so
2:12
getting that treated um is essential and
2:15
if you travel with kids and you have
2:18
kids in your care then you need to have
2:20
something because of course little ones
2:22
are always scraping their their hands up
2:24
and knees and stuff like that so having
2:25
some of this stuff is really important
2:27
and I think I found a really nice little
2:29
K
2:30
that um doesn't break the bank is very
2:33
lightweight and fits in a lot of
2:35
different scenarios so let's take a look
2:37
at it a little bit closer and see what
2:38
you guys think all right here it is the
2:41
Rhino rescue
2:42
EDC first aid kit very small package as
2:46
you can tell weighs next to nothing um
2:50
what's really nice about this particular
2:53
pouch that the the kick comes in is that
2:55
is a very nice water resistant pouch
2:57
because it's of course you can see that
2:58
zipper there it's got that kind of
3:00
sealed zipper that's not going to allow
3:03
moisture in and it's a very nice
3:05
lightweight um
3:07
nylon uh pack cloth type of material and
3:11
then it has this reflective strip on it
3:13
so that's going to make it a little bit
3:15
easier to see and find in your pockets
3:19
or in your packs
3:33
so here are all the contents first thing
3:36
we have is a space
3:43
blanket 160 by
3:50
210m provide emergency protection in all
3:53
weather conditions reflect 90% of body
3:56
heat
3:57
so um you know when people become
4:01
chilled um a space blanket does have its
4:05
benefits and it helps keep people warm
4:08
it helps retain um some of that body
4:11
heat if you've you know if you've gotten
4:14
wet and cold outside these things are
4:16
awesome to have so there's no reason not
4:18
to carry one and have one available to
4:21
[Applause]
4:23
you next item we have are the
4:26
swabs um with some iodine
4:31
here are some benzo um chloride wipes
4:35
once again for cleaning out
4:38
wounds pretty handy little item to have
4:41
antiseptic swabs basically very similar
4:44
to
4:45
this and then we
4:49
have some additional swabs that don't
4:51
have any kind of medication on
4:57
them then we have a pack packet of what
5:00
they're calling wound plasters which you
5:02
know
5:03
for the US
5:05
market we call them Band-Aids that's our
5:08
kind of our generic term for but I know
5:11
overseas they use that word wound or
5:13
that term wound plasters quite a
5:16
bit once again it's in a nice sealed
5:19
waterproof bag that you can open once
5:22
you need it but the cool thing
5:24
is it does have a Ziploc closure so even
5:29
after you open this it's still going
5:32
to keep everything nice and dry and I
5:35
think that's important so this is kind
5:37
of a rundown of what's in the
5:42
bag so we have a couple of
5:46
those we have what I like to call the
5:49
knuckle style Band-Aid or bandage
6:00
standard size ones there and then a nice
6:03
large one there for a nice larger cut or
6:08
abrasion we got a couple of
6:11
those and then the final piece in this
6:13
kit is a um mol skin type
6:22
material that these have been kind of
6:24
precut to different
6:27
shapes uh to apply to areas that you
6:31
have a blister on so those can become
6:34
very handy um for
6:38
cushioning if you get um blisters easily
6:42
while
6:46
hiking that is really all that is in
6:49
this kit is
6:50
very
6:53
minimal in the amount of items that you
6:55
get um I think if you wanted to you be
7:00
able to add a couple extra things um
7:03
that maybe would suit you
7:06
better I could see getting rid of these
7:09
and maybe
7:12
substituting um Tylenol or aspirin or
7:16
something like that I would also
7:18
probably add um maybe some kind of hand
7:22
sanitizer and then probably a gauze pad
7:24
or two and some tape that way you could
7:27
if you have a a larger cut you you could
7:29
actually treat it
8:13
now I wanted to show you what one of
8:14
these Band-Aids looks like because I
8:16
think that's important if understanding
8:19
what kind of Band-Aid you're going to be
8:20
getting um because some are better than
8:22
others that is for sure I've had some
8:25
really good ones and I've had some
8:26
really bad ones in the past so this has
8:30
a
8:32
plastic kind of feel to it it is not a
8:34
cloth style
8:44
band-aid and if I was to use
8:49
that right
8:56
there seems to stick pretty well
9:00
time will only
9:02
tell of course another way to save space
9:06
is to remove the blanket from this pouch
9:08
and put the blanket in a separate part
9:10
of your bag and then add more supplies
9:14
to
9:16
this and that would give you a lot more
9:21
room all right I hope you enjoyed the
9:23
video pretty nice little kit um you
9:27
should always have some kind of first
9:28
aid with you I can't you know I can't
9:30
emphasize that enough if you're going to
9:32
be prepared uh don't slack on the first
9:35
a items take something with you
9:37
something is better than nothing of
9:39
course you can improvise things but you
9:42
know for the money why not pick up
9:44
something like this throw it in your BD
9:47
pocket throw it in your bag and head out
9:49
with the family and not worry about it
9:51
um nice little kit I want to thank Rhino
9:54
rescue for sending this to me so I could
9:56
check it out uh be on the lookout for
9:59
some more first aid kit videos I plan on
