- On-Screen Besties Who Actually Hated Each Another
Mar 20, 2026
Not every on-screen friendship reflects reality. In many TV shows, actors who played close allies revealed off-screen tensions.
On ‘The Vampire Diaries’, Nina Dobrev said of co-star Paul Wesley, “We really just didn’t like each other the first maybe five months of shooting,” though she said that they eventually became friends.
On ‘Sex and the City’, speculation about Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall’s feud surfaced for years. In 2018, after Parker offered condolences following Cattrall’s brother’s death, Cattrall wrote on Instagram, “You are not my family. You are not my friend.”
Meanwhile, the late Naya Rivera described friction with Lea Michele on ‘Glee’, writing in her memoir, “Lea didn’t like sharing the spotlight.”
Audiences often see strong on-screen bonds, but behind the camera, relationships can be very different.
