THE NEW NORMAL• A climate change awareness initiative • Episode 4: Water Crisis in Madanpur Khadar Area of Delhi The lack of safe drinking Water and sanitation facilities affecting resettlement colonies like Madanpur Khadar. Ground water level has gone down in the area. People are buying water for daily needs because there is no other source of water. Govt. tankers seen rarely in the area. Reduction of water levels in Yamuna frequently observed, last year in July, the levels reached all time low levels since 1965. Four SOS letters issued in last fortnight as fluctuations in Yamuna levels continue. Delhi already has a demand supply gap of over 380 million gallons of water every day. Water crisis in Delhi is visible, Extreme heat waves and exploitation of groundwater is causing serious problems in the Capital city of India.
