The Chibi News Daily Reflection
0:04
Hi, my name is Andrew Latimer. I'm a Church of England minister at Grace Church in Greenwich
0:12
Because I was a doctor before I was a vicar, people often ask me why it was that I switched
0:17
Switched from brain injuries and blood cancers to the Bible and baptisms
0:22
Part of the answer to that question is a surprising thing that Jesus said in the Bible
0:28
So there's this episode where Jesus is teaching people and there's vast crowds flocking to hear what Jesus says
0:35
And some people want to get their paralyzed friend to Jesus so that Jesus can heal him
0:39
And so what they do is they lower the paralyzed man through the roof
0:43
And this interrupts the sermon and Jesus pauses and has to engage with what's happening
0:48
And he says to the man who's now in front of him, Son, your sins are forgiven
0:54
And we and everyone around are thinking, hang on, Jesus. didn't you see what his real problem is
0:59
Surely it's his paralysis, that must be the big problem. But Jesus is pointing to his sin as being his biggest problem
1:06
as it is for all of us. And Jesus is full of compassion and he does heal the man of his paralysis
1:12
there and then and he gets up and starts leaping around. And Jesus is doing there the visible miracle, the healing
1:20
as proof that he can do the much bigger and more important invisible miracle
1:24
of forgiving someone of their sins
