The Chibi News Daily Reflection
0:04
Hi, I'm Chris Tufnell, a vicar in the Church of England. We live in a culture that is increasingly lacking in grace and forgiveness
0:15
Instead of showing grace when someone does something wrong, we cancel them
0:20
Instead of forgiving, we condemn. And the result is division, anger and hostility
0:25
If anyone needed persuading of that, two minutes reading the comments on any social media platform should do the trick
0:34
Of course, I might think to myself, well, they don't deserve forgiveness. Perhaps that's sometimes true
0:41
And so it might seem a good way to live right up until the point that I'm the one that needs forgiveness
0:48
And then I plead for different treatment. God's way is just altogether better
0:53
It's altogether beautiful. And it was modelled for us by Jesus One of his disciples Peter wrote this about Jesus When they hurled their insults at him he did not retaliate When he suffered he made no threats
1:10
Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross
1:20
You see, this is how God spares us. He didn't spare his son
1:25
This is how he forgives. He absorbs the penalty for our sin himself on the cross
1:31
This is how God defeats his enemies, by making them his friends
1:36
I find my heart drawn towards a God like that. I find it easier, much easier to admit my faults to him, knowing he'll respond to me with grace
1:48
And I find myself wanting to become more like him in how I respond to others
