Hi, I'm Brenda from St Francis Parish Church in Teesside. We've almost come to the end of another week

For church, the first week of the Easter season. On the very day Jesus was resurrected from the dead

we hear the disciples were in a locked room, in fear of being arrested

But Jesus came into that locked room and stood among them and said, Peace be with you

And Jesus showed them his hands and his side, the wounds that had been inflicted upon him on the cross

And the disciples believed and rejoiced when they saw the Lord. But the disciple Thomas was not with them

A week later, the disciples were again in the house, and this time Thomas was with them

And although the doors were shut, Jesus again came and stood among them, saying, Peace be with you

Then said to Thomas Put your finger here and see my hands Reach out your hand and put it in my side Do not doubt but believe

Thomas answered him, my Lord and my God. What a difference one week can make

Early last Sunday, the disciples would have been having the worst day of their lives

thinking Jesus had been killed and that was the end of the story

For Thomas, those doubts remained until Jesus returns to the locked room and says

How amazing is God, the God of love we see in the person of Jesus, who cares that Thomas still had doubts

Thomas answers Jesus with, My Lord and my God. Even if we sometimes have questions, Christians all over the world believe Jesus is Lord and God. Amen
