Hello, my name is Marjorie and I'm a Baptist minister in Sheffield

In the midst of life's chaos and the endless to-do lists we have in our heads
0:17
worry can easily take hold of our hearts. It is easy to get overwhelmed by the unknowns of the future
0:25
our jobs, our health, our relationships. Yet Jesus speaks directly into this in Matthew's Gospel chapter 6 when he says
0:35
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself
0:41
Each day has enough trouble of its own. Jesus isn't telling us to ignore our responsibilities or pretend that life is without struggle
0:51
Instead he inviting us to trust him with our burdens to surrender our anxiety and to focus on the present We can also remember that not everything we worry about will actually happen Often our worries are about things that are beyond our control and stressing over them
1:14
doesn't change the outcome. Instead we can focus on what we can control, our actions, our thoughts
1:22
and our perspectives. And when we bring our worries to Jesus, we are reminded that he holds
1:30
all things in his hands. He promised in Matthew's gospel later in chapter 11
1:37
come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. It is a particular kind
1:46
of rest. Rest for the soul. So today, if worry begins to creep in, we can remember that Jesus
1:53
promises to be with us
