The Chibi News Daily Reflection
0:04
Hi, my name is Pat Allerton and I'm a vicar in the Church of England
0:11
You know, when I was growing up, and still today, my mum had the most enormous fear of flying
0:16
To the extent that the few times I've been on a plane with her, she had to take Valium
0:20
And even back in the day, before the rules changed, she was allowed to go and visit the captain in the cockpit
0:25
All to calm her nerves, calm her fears. Now, fear of death is perhaps the most human fear to have
0:33
because ultimately, who knows what happens next? But the Christian faith, the Christian hope
0:38
is that we know because of the resurrection of Jesus that ultimately death is not the end
0:45
Jesus and his ministry on earth had some great friends, and one of them was a guy called Lazarus
0:50
who was the brother of Mary and Martha. Now, he died, and Jesus, for some reason
0:55
left him dead and buried for four days, before going to visit the sisters
1:01
And when he did, he comforted them by saying these words, I am the resurrection and the life
1:07
Whoever believes in me will live even though they die. And without further ado, he went out to the tomb and commanded
1:14
Lazarus, come out. And Lazarus came out, hopping, I imagine, because he was bundled together in his grave clothes
1:22
But he came back to life. and if you like that is a picture of the future for all who put their trust in Jesus Christ
1:31
today that one day when God calls time on all of creation on this age those who believe and trust
1:39
in Jesus will hear his voice calling to them saying come out of the grave and come into a
1:46
beautiful and eternal future
