We are exploring the story of the prodigal son over this week

So yesterday we left the son in the pig pens in the realisation he'd really messed up and wanted to put it right

So the son makes his way on a long journey back to the father

Meanwhile, the father has been waiting for his son to return each day, looking out for his son on the road

It's surprising, really. The son asks for his inheritance early and rejects his father in the most awful way

But the son doesn't realize how good the father really is. And as he's walking back, possibly in great fear, he completely misunderstands the nature of his father

Jesus says while the son was still far off his father saw and had compassion and ran and embraced him and kissed him

Through this story as Christians we believe Jesus tells us that God is kind and loving and forgiving
