0:21
what's going on everybody so i hope you
0:22
enjoyed that quick little montage
0:24
of our photo collages and graphic design
0:28
um so recently i've been super inspired
0:32
a lot of magazine type editorial work
0:35
just a lot of graphic designers and
0:37
photographers that are using like
0:39
collages and things like that in their
0:42
on instagram or just in newspapers
0:45
i've been just kind of intrigued by that
0:48
and wanting to figure out how i can
0:49
bridge the gap and do that with my work
0:52
so i've just been playing around with
0:56
looking through magazines ripping stuff
0:58
out that i think is cool
0:59
stuff like that just to try and create
1:03
just new new uh new new life for my work
1:06
that i've already created
1:08
and yeah it's really been helping me out
1:09
just see differently think differently
1:12
and communicate differently as well i
1:14
think that's one of the biggest things
1:16
and you know designer or whatever really
1:20
that any any type of creativity like the
1:22
whole thing is about communication and
1:25
so yeah the graphic design has really
1:27
helped me communicate what i'm trying to
1:29
communicate through my work
1:30
and today i'm just going to be going
1:32
through a quick little process on how i
1:34
actually create these photo collages
1:36
and these um handmade designs so let's
1:38
just go ahead and get into it
1:41
all right so usually when i
1:45
start doing these i print them out i
1:47
edit the photos first
1:50
and then after that what i'll do is i'll
1:53
just usually two on a page if i don't
1:56
um them to be as big usually i'll do
1:58
four or eight or even more but
2:00
after i get them printed out into two
2:04
i will usually cut them straight in half
2:08
separated just so i can have an
2:10
individual and then i can play around
2:13
for this batch i printed pretty much
2:16
one black and white version and one
2:18
color version just so i had
2:20
some ability to mix and match
2:24
kind of like with this one right here
2:29
just so that i can have the exact same
2:32
photo in a little different variation
2:34
and i also printed photos that were
2:37
pretty similar to each other as you can
2:40
these two right here i'm pretty sure
2:42
they're different they look very very
2:44
but it's just a little bit of a
2:45
different pose just in case i want to
2:48
collage those two together as well so to
2:51
get started let's just go ahead and cut
3:04
and what i usually like to do after this
3:08
take a look at the two now that you
3:09
don't have the border in it
3:11
really just start to just look at it and
3:13
think i think that's a big stuff people
3:16
and just jump into it but so after i
3:20
the the prints that i want to use
3:22
sometimes i'll make collages like this
3:25
you know without a base but i
3:29
also like doing it just on a on a paper
3:31
base just so that i have
3:34
a one kind of stable background for it
3:38
because a lot of times
3:39
these ones will end up getting just
3:41
ripped up or misplaced or whatever just
3:44
or separated even just because they're
3:47
pieced together properly
3:57
and it all just depends on how kind of
4:00
what you want to do um
4:04
obviously for something like this i just
4:05
ripped the one the top page
4:07
and then taped it on usually for all my
4:11
just some simple white gaffing tape or
4:15
um even just blue scotch tape masking
4:18
and then for things like
4:24
this for things like this piece right
4:27
here i'll usually just use
4:28
some some postage tape because it's
4:32
it's easy i kind of i actually like the
4:35
the the shininess when i scan it in
4:38
it adds a cool effect to it makes you
4:41
can tell the difference between
4:42
the flatness of the paper and then the
4:44
shininess of the tape
4:46
so i do like that as an effect and it
4:50
holding everything together up as you
4:54
individual cut out pieces
4:57
but it still stays together with the
5:00
tape which i really like so
5:01
maybe we'll use that for this
5:05
so let's just go ahead and rip this coat
5:08
i'll rip both of them at the same time
5:11
just to see what we can get out of it
5:26
see i like the way even for this like i
5:29
was talking about before
5:30
the difference in the poses here her
5:33
eyes aren't looking at you here they are
5:35
so maybe i'll add this as a background
5:39
this could actually look pretty cool
5:50
that way you get kind of that oh she's
5:53
looking at you she's not
5:56
yeah i like to look at this actually
6:01
let's use i like just adding tons of
6:04
different stuff so let's just start
6:07
see we can get out of it oops
6:15
all right so that looks good i like that
6:17
as is but i think it could have some
6:20
so let's add this to it
6:25
what was it i think it was this actually
6:32
although you can't see your hand in this
6:34
one so let's use this
6:48
um that looks perfect
6:51
now i'm kind of debating on if i want to
6:56
or let's use a little bit of both
6:59
actually some of the ifing tape
7:12
and i kind of want to do maybe one
7:18
usps like postage tape just for the
7:26
even got the edge of the tape rolling
7:33
i think this is pretty cool though
7:36
the mix of the tape the crayon the
7:41
all of it kind of pieced together to
7:48
i i for me i think it's good for
7:49
communication i think this says a lot
7:52
than say just this one plain image right
7:57
even this image as a printed physical
8:01
showing it to you i think it might seem
8:04
a little better than it is
8:05
really this is just a standard photo my
8:08
big reason for doing this i want to just
8:10
bring all the pieces together bring all
8:12
the ideas together and
8:13
get it on paper no pun intended but
8:16
i really enjoyed showing you how i
8:20
cool scanned or cool handmade
8:23
photo collages if you have any questions
