Hello, I'm Rupert Harris, the managing
0:14
editor of Cityan and I'm here with
0:17
Shannon Simpson, the CEO and co-founder
0:20
of Cyro Cyber. We're here at the uh
0:23
Growth 500 awards by business leader in
0:25
the fantastic Sky Garden. Hello.
0:27
Nice to meet you. Um can you give us
0:30
give us a brief overview overview of
0:33
Yeah, SARS Cyber we are a professional
0:35
and managed services business. We
0:37
provide cyber security services to the
0:40
nation's critical digital
0:41
infrastructure. Um from financial
0:43
services through to critical n critical
0:45
national infrastructure um whether that
0:47
be railways, highways, uh utilities. Um,
0:50
we specialize in working in very complex
0:52
environments. Um, as the UK tries to
0:56
leverage its assets and leverage some of
0:58
the more legacy technology that it has,
1:00
that's where we come in to try and
1:02
secure those environments and and and
1:03
and help the the nation function as as
1:06
And how does it feel being one of the
1:07
fastest growing businesses in the UK?
1:10
Well, I was delighted to find out that
1:11
that was the case. um you know this it's
1:13
it's it's not the the first business
1:15
that uh my co-founder and I have started
1:17
in in this world and um and doing it
1:19
second time round obviously means that
1:21
we could do things quicker um and and
1:23
therefore to have have been able to
1:25
achieve this growth um using our our
1:27
previous experience is uh has been
1:29
fantastic and and and and that
1:31
recognition the recognition of tonight
1:32
is is is just a bit of icing on the cake
1:34
for what we're doing.
1:35
And what is it like starting and scaling
1:37
a business in the UK? Uh well it's it's
1:41
it's different to how it how it has
1:42
been. Um we we we businesses can spin up
1:45
so quickly these days. Technology cloud
1:47
technology um the lack of infrastructure
1:50
investment required the lack of office
1:52
space required you to working from home
1:54
means that you can get down to what
1:55
you're good at quite quickly. Um I don't
1:57
think that's pertinent just UK that
1:59
that's globally. Um but in the UK at the
2:01
moment there is a wealth of talent that
2:03
we can leverage on. um there's you know
2:05
some really um compelling business
2:08
models that we we can use and have used
2:10
in order in order to do that and a great
2:11
deal of support from the private sector
2:13
as well. So yeah, it's a good place to
2:15
And uh what are you most excited about
2:17
looking out in the world today both in
2:19
cyber and the UK growth scene?
2:21
Um sounds quite boring but we're um the
2:24
cyber security um and resilience bill is
2:28
about to be passed in parliament. Um and
2:31
this is a a serious uh enforcement by
2:33
the UK government on making sure that
2:35
the entire supply chain uh for
2:36
organizations is is taken seriously. Uh
2:39
it's a mandate from the government for
2:41
uh all organizations that supply UK
2:44
government and the UK um uh PLC to to
2:47
take cyber security seriously. Uh it
2:49
empowers the regulators to uh really
2:52
enforce those things. And so for us it's
2:53
going to be a bit of a gamecher and and
2:55
will only help accelerate our growth to
2:57
help those organizations you know
2:58
achieve those achieve those mandates.
3:00
And what about on the wider tech scene
3:04
Um well the wider tech scene is is is
3:06
one of those things we have to fight
3:07
against. Um uh again not to
3:11
be boring about it but the challenges of
3:13
AI the challenges of cloud-based u
3:15
applications more and more technology
3:17
that's all new attack surface. It's it's
3:20
all um it's all new areas for uh the
3:23
criminals and uh the the nation state
3:25
actors to to have a go at if you like.
3:28
So uh so for us it it it means that it's
3:31
more work for us um in order to try and
3:34
keep keep ahead of that. But a challenge
3:36
we're looking forward to.
3:36
Okay. Great. Thank you Shannon. Thank
3:38
you very much for your time today. Enjoy
3:40
Thank you very much. Pleasure. Cheers.
