Welcome to day 27 of the mixed media
0:03
card challenge. That's 30 cards using
0:06
craft supplies you've probably got at
0:07
home and things from around your house.
0:10
Um you'll find the links in the
0:12
description below and on the screen to
0:14
the other videos, but today we're going
0:16
to make this card here. So, let's get
0:21
You'll need a card blank or a piece of
0:24
card that's folded in half. Um, I'm
0:27
making my cards 7 in x 5 in, but
0:30
obviously you can make it any size you
0:31
like. And then it's a case of getting
0:33
yourself some sheet music. I recommend
0:36
looking in charity shops, thrift stores,
0:38
places where you can pick some up a lot
0:40
more cheaply cuz let's be honest, you're
0:42
going to cut it up. And also, you can
0:44
get some like this, which is aged, which
0:46
I don't think really has a nice special
0:50
special effect to it. So, all you're
0:52
going to do is cut it down to about the
0:54
size of the card. I'm not doing this
0:58
I'm making sure it's a little bit bigger
1:01
so that it will definitely fill the
1:03
whole card. And then because mine's
1:05
doublesided, I need to pick which side I
1:07
like best. Well, I think it's the the
1:10
more aged side. And then glue it in
1:13
place. I'm using actually some decopage
1:16
glue that I've got because it'll just
1:17
cover the whole thing nicely. Any PVA
1:20
glue. You could in fact just use a glue
1:22
stick. You're only sticking a bit of
1:24
paper on. It doesn't need to be super
1:26
strong or special glue.
1:28
Um, and then just smooth it down. And
1:31
all you want to do is work out from the
1:33
middle and just make sure you smooth it
1:34
and get it nice and flat. And as you can
1:37
see, it sticks out all the way around.
1:40
Let it dry. Unless you've used a glue
1:43
stick, you can probably carry on
1:44
straight away. And then you can simply
1:47
turn it all over and snip around the
1:50
edge. And just cut that off carefully.
1:53
Just make sure you don't cut the card.
1:57
And then you'll have completely done the
2:06
look really nice. And then it's time to
2:08
add some more detail. So I'm stenciling
2:12
the word love across here. What you
2:15
could do, of course, is print the word
2:17
love off, cut it out, and glue it in
2:21
you may have some sort of card topper
2:23
you you like and you could put that in
2:25
place. But I wanted to introduce the
2:30
um because I think it's really nice.
2:31
It's just another effect. So you can see
2:35
that because of the stencil I can see
2:37
exactly where to line up the next
2:39
letter. So there's no markings on the
2:41
page. I haven't done any pencil lines
2:43
which makes it even easier. Um but feel
2:46
free to if that would help you. And you
2:49
can see the only problem you have is
2:51
when it gets to the edge, it can be a
2:53
little bit harder to line it up, but
2:55
it's still possible. So, I hope you're
2:57
enjoying this video, and if you are,
2:59
please could you give it a thumbs up so
3:01
more people get to see this sort of
3:03
card. Um, this whole series, it's all
3:06
about accessibility. You don't need to
3:08
be a card making expert to make some
3:12
So, once I've stenciled that on, I'm
3:15
going to add some tape. Now, this is
3:17
washi tape. It sticks really easily.
3:20
It's really nice and easy to use. And
3:23
all I'm doing is making sure it's too
3:25
big. And then trimming it down
3:29
so it's just nicely to the page edge.
3:31
And you can see there I've got a
3:32
diagonal edge. So, I can go again and
3:37
And you're done there. I mean, that
3:39
would be a great card. You don't need to
3:41
do anything else. But, I decided I
3:43
wanted a bit more. So, I'm just using a
3:45
bit of black acrylic paint to just add a
3:51
little bit more depth. So, I'm just
3:53
taking a a brush and just putting the
3:56
paint on the end of the bristles and
3:59
dabbing it onto the card. And I think
4:01
it's just bringing the notes combined
4:04
with the tape. It stops the tape being
4:07
so in your face on the front and
4:09
different. It's just merging it all
4:11
together. And there we have it. A lovely
