POKEMON GO PLUS RANT - Can Niantic's Accessory Save the Game?

Oh yeah, things are getting serious

Hey you guys and welcome to my second episode of Car Rantle Wednesday

And this time I'm going to be talking about Pokemon Go, or more specifically, Pokemon Go Plus, the new wrist accessory

First of all, you're a month too late. Sorry Niantek or Niantek or however you're pronounced, but this app came out way too early and lacked a lot of the features that it should have had from the beginning

I think that's my biggest gripe with this app is the fact that there are no trainer battles

The only thing you can really do is battle gyms and collect Pokemon, which is great

And it had a huge massive success when it first came out

I played it all the time. My co-workers played it. But it also had its share of problems, and I think that's a big issue too

It crashed all the time. The servers were down. People, at least people I know

spent lots of money on the app buying lures, buying things like that, only to have that game crashed after they've activated so they lost a lot of

money which they recently had their thing where everyone freaked out and got refunds from Apple and Apple actually went through with it because it's true I

mean people are spending lots of money on this game and they're not getting their money worth so I think that one of the problems and the fact that they coming out with this new wrist accessory which again is cool and would have been great if they launched it with the game They would have made a ton of money like I would have bought it I know tons of people would have

bought it but the thing is the hype for the game just kind of died down and I think that's in part

to the fact that the game hasn't had any significant updates other than I mean the buddy

stim is now cool um which I tried to open it up before I did this video. I couldn't get the game

the load so it just kind of goes with what I was saying. But it's just the things that are changing

aren't the important factors. We want trainer battles. I think one of the things I want, I would

love to see a battle, turn-based battle system like in the Pokemon games where you battle with

your friends and you know you attack, you use potions, you use things like that. I think that

would make the Pokemon franchise just skyrocket. Like having turn-based battles with your friends

would be the coolest thing. And especially if they utilize this accessory in a way that you can kind

of use it to kind of connect with people. But really, it just kind of blinks on your arm

and it notifies you when there's Pokemon nearby or when you're near a Poke stop

But like, whoop-dee-doo. Like, that's not anything new. And that just kind of pisses me off

because you can't do anything new with it. I think the new Apple Watch app that's coming out

is cool too but again these came out too late I think what they really should have done to make this train continue to roll is release all this at once Delay the game even if you have to delay it a couple months Build in these features that people want Release it with the accessories Release it with the

Apple Watch app. And that hype will continue to grow over time, instead of grow significantly

and then just drop down completely. So I'm kind of pissed off at Niantic, or Niantic, I don't know

to pronounce their name but that's not important the thing is this pokemon go plus accessory it's

just it's gonna do well i mean i'm sure in like japan and stuff it's gonna like sell you know

millions of versions but in the u.s at least everyone i know that was so excited for this game

they've just completely lost interest and i don't even know if i want to buy the accessory now if

you would have asked me a month ago do i want to buy this accessory it would have been a hell yes

even if it's $35 or whatever I think that's $35 that's the price even if it was $35 I would have

bought it and again they would have made so much money but I've just kind of I don't play the game

like I used to I even was in New York last week you know it's probably a great place to play the

game didn't open it once and I think it's just because I've just lost interest and I've caught

a ton of Pokemon but I kind of stagnated in the types that I found I just saw millions of and Pidgeys and things like that and no new rare things going on So I not saying that they need to release you know new Pokemon but I think they need to make different regions more accessible And of course they going to release more

Pokemon later on, and of course, they said they're going to do trainer battles, but I think you're a

little bit too late. And yeah, the hype may go up a little bit when you release these updates, but

it's going to be nowhere near where it was. It was an international sensation when it first came out

And right now, I never hear people mention it anymore. It's just crazy how quickly that hype died out

And that happens with apps all the time. But I feel like Neontech just kind of dropped the ball this time

They had so much momentum going for the app, and they just kind of had an extremely buggy version of it

and released very little updates. And then the whole thing with the whole tracking system

I'm not even going to get into that. So yeah, I think the Pokemon Go Plus accessory is going to sell

but I don't think they're going to help rebuild their player base that they had before. So that's my rant for today. I do love Pokemon. I'm excited about the new games

coming out, but I just feel like the game is the Pokemon Go is just kind of, you know, lost its

momentum. So let me know. Do you guys still play it? I might return to it. Hey, let's say they come

out with a cool update. I might come back to it, but right now I'm not playing it and I'm probably

not going to buy the accessories. So that's my rant for today. I got to get back to work
