I share my thoughts on my first Try the World Snack Box that I got for $4 (Coupon Code below!) I wasn't super impressed with this box with the full price of $19 in mind. However, it's definitely worth a try for $4 if you haven't yet! Just use promo code SNACKNOW at checkout using the link below! http://goo.gl/NvlziQ FYI, I extended my subscription for one more month to see if the September box makes up for this one. I'll let you know how it goes! #RyeWhiskey

Hey, what's up you guys? So I just got home from work and received my very first Try the World snack box
0:05
So Try the World has been around for a while. They're kind of like the gold standard of food subscription boxes
0:10
And their original box has 7 to 8 gourmet food items in it
0:14
And it's a bit expensive. It's $40 a month, which is a little more than I'm willing to pay right now
0:18
And I think recently they just started these snack boxes. And these are only $20 a month
0:24
And it comes with, I think, five snack items from their bigger boxes
0:28
So I think they kind of pick the best snacks and put it in a box. I got the trial box, which is $4, which I think it's the same as the regular snack box
0:37
It was just kind of a discount for the first one. So I figured I'd give it a try. $20 is still a bit much for only five snacks
0:43
Maybe these are a little bit bigger sizes. Maybe they're a little more fresh or gourmet or whatever
0:47
This is entirely new to me, so I'm excited. So I hope you are too. So let's open it up
0:51
Oh, there's a lot of fake grassy stuff here. So a little promo for the box itself
1:00
And then it gives you, actually they give you descriptions of what the items are, so that's something that I've been missing in some of these subscription boxes
1:06
So these are a lot bigger items than I imagined and they look high quality items so I guess that kind of makes up for the price So let see these are Swedish gourmet crisp morgeau deli So the description says these are
1:20
kind of flatbread like crackers or something along the lines of that. Let's open them up and
1:24
give them a taste. So it's kind of like a toasted cracker. Yeah it's just kind of like a cracker
1:33
I mean it's good. They're kind of like a buttery salty flavor. They don't really seem to have
1:37
much other seasoning on them than that. They're probably really good with like hummus or some other kind of dip. So sticking with the savory options, these are taro chips. These look kind
1:46
of like Thai, I'm assuming. Yeah, these are from Thailand. It's like a very interesting color texture
1:51
thing going on right here. Oh wow, it's a lot sweeter than I expected. It's kind of like a sweet
1:57
potato taste. So yeah, I like these. All right, next up we have La Mir Polard palettes. These are
2:04
a type of butter cookie. So these are very crumbly and flaky. I just made a mess in my lap getting
2:09
out of the packaging. Yeah, it's a butter cookie. It really just kind of tastes like, if you get
2:16
those big cookie sets, I don't know if you've seen them like usually around holidays, it's just like
2:20
a variety pack of different types of cookies and they usually labeled as gourmet or exotic or whatever but they all kind of taste the same maybe a little bit different filling This kind of tastes like it part of one of those Not bad but you know is a lot of money for snacks
2:33
So in the cookie theme, let's continue with Casa Lucina, Portugal. These are classic lemon cookies
2:40
Let's open them up. So these are kind of, they look a lot like Nilla wafers, if you're from America and know what those are
2:46
And apparently these are based off of an old Portuguese recipe. Yeah. It's very very similar tasting to a Nilla wafer, which is kind of
2:57
disappointing. It tastes like it was made in the exact same factory using the same recipe as Nilla wafers but with some lemon, which is really disappointing with
3:04
it being an ancient recipe or something. So lastly we really just have this citrus crumble cake, which I'm hoping is the best thing in this. It looks like the
3:12
best thing. Kind of looks like a fancy packet of tea or something. So according
3:15
to the card that came with this, this was actually handmade by a group of women using an original recipe, and it has kind of like a cider custard type center
3:23
So I'm really excited about this. Hopefully this makes it worth it. So there's a look at the individual packaging. A little less impressive
3:29
I kind of hoped I would open this up and it would be like a little cute little handmade cake, you know
3:33
This is really messy So I don know if you can see oh it is falling apart in front of me Um it got kind of like a layer of like a frosted topping I not gonna let this fall apart anymore I just gonna go ahead and eat it
3:45
Wow. Hmm. It's a really, really interesting flavor. It's like kind of savory in a way
3:49
I think the cider filling, I don't know if you can see the filling, but it's like... So it's kind of like a thick
3:53
jelly-like substance. But it's like a really interesting flavor. I don't think I've actually
3:57
had anything that tastes like that before, so that's exciting. That made me feel like I was eating something
4:01
from a foreign country. Whereas everything else kind of felt like, I can get this from World Market, you know
4:06
I can get this at some kind of specialty store. Didn't really feel very unique. But for $20, I don't know
4:10
I feel like there's some lesser known alternatives out there that are cheaper and you get more variety of flavors
4:15
I know Taste the World is all about their bigger box and maybe that has a lot higher quality items in it
4:20
I don't know, personally, I wasn't a fan of this box, but if you are interested, I put the link in the description below
4:24
Maybe it'll be better next month. Maybe this was just kind of like a so-so month. I know subscription boxes aren't perfect all the time
4:30
if you believe it or not. So let me know in the comments below if you've ever had this snack box or you've had the full-size Try the World, and if you've been blown away
4:37
I don't want to have a false impression of this box being terrible, and it was just kind of, this was not a not-so-great month
4:42
But thank you so much for watching. I love doing these food videos, and I think you guys seem to like it, too
4:46
I have a few other food subscription boxes on their way, so I hope to post those soon. And yeah, I'll see you guys in my next video, so thank you so much for watching
