I bet you own a lot of audio devices that would be more useful and functional if they included bluetooth capabilities. But from a car stereo to a pair of old headphones, you can't just add that feature. Or can you? That's the purpose of the budget Nulaxy BR01 bluetooth receiver: a tiny gizmo you plug in and can then stream audio content via bluetooth. Tech expert Dave Taylor of https://www.AskDaveTaylor.com/ checked the BR01 out and ran it through some tests to find that it worked quite well and is a fun and easy upgrade to your audio gear. can this have bluetooth to any device
0:01
you own let's find out Dave Taylor here
0:11
and I'm looking at bluetooth I'm looking
0:13
at devices that don't have bluetooth so
0:16
our device stand-in is this this is a
0:19
JBL charge 3 and it has the most
0:22
important thing which is an aux-in so
0:25
we're using this the kn'l axon and it's
0:30
a little tiny bluetooth receiver with
0:32
aux and you can plug it into anything
0:35
and boom now it has bluetooth so let's
0:39
give it a quick world just as a first
0:40
demo iPhone 10 no lack C device JBL
0:45
speaker and JBL actually really likes to
0:51
be on its side so you get the engines
0:53
too we got plenty of music going on here
0:58
and it's working and as you can see you
1:01
know your phone doesn't have to be super
1:03
close let me go ahead and pause that so
1:07
that's actually really nice because in
1:10
this case this speaker actually already
1:12
speaks bluetooth but imagine it didn't
1:14
or imagine you had headphones that you
1:17
really wanted to use wirelessly but they
1:19
weren't bluetooth headphones or even
1:21
more likely imagine you have a car where
1:24
you do have an aux plug but you don't
1:27
have bluetooth of the Bluetooth doesn't
1:28
work anymore plug this thing in and boom
1:31
you're up and running now let me tell
1:33
you a little bit about this so this is
1:34
working off a Bluetooth 4.1 and it
1:37
supports two simultaneous connections so
1:40
you can actually have it connected to
1:42
you and maybe your spouse's smartphones
1:45
and so then you can choose who gets to
1:48
actually play the music that's actually
1:49
really handy now if they say you can do
1:52
up to 60 feet for the connection my
1:55
experiences is once I'm about 15 20 feet
1:57
away then it starts to break down so
1:59
this is not the kind of device that you
2:01
can plug into your headphones and then
2:03
walk around in the backyard without
2:05
having any issues unless of course you
2:07
have your smartphone in your pocket in
2:08
which case you're only three or four
2:10
feet away and that's gonna work fine
2:12
same with a car if you
2:13
plug this into the stereo on the
2:15
dashboard of your car your phone's
2:17
probably going to be within 18 inches of
2:19
it it's good work just fine now the no
2:22
actually also features CVC noise
2:24
cancellation which is just a chip they
2:26
add to the circuit board and it has a
2:28
pretty decent little battery life on it
2:30
it's a 250 milli amp hour battery so
2:33
they say it'll run about 13 hours on a
2:35
charge but here's what's really cool is
2:37
it charges off of a micro USB connection
2:40
and you can use it while it's charging
2:42
so if you have your typical car set up
2:46
you could use your USB plug this thing
2:48
in and then plug it into your car or a
2:51
stereo for example if you have a home
2:54
stereo and you wish you had a Bluetooth
2:56
receiver now you got one and so you
2:58
could never actually unplug it you can
3:00
just leave it plugged in the whole time
3:01
and it'll run forever and you'll never
3:03
have to worry about your battery life
3:05
that's really nice
3:06
still 13 hours is pretty good that
3:08
certainly gets you a nice long car ride
3:11
you probably shouldn't be driving more
3:12
than 13 hours and it'd be a heck of a
3:14
bike ride or run cuz again if you can
3:17
run for 13 hours you're a way better
3:18
person than I am
3:20
so other than that it comes with a
3:23
couple of different aux cables and a
3:25
micro USB charging cable but the thing I
3:27
really like is this this is this teeny
3:30
tiny aux adapter and so this device just
3:34
has an aux plug on it so you plug this
3:37
in and then you plug it into the aux
3:39
port on whatever device you want to use
3:41
and you're good to go super easy but
3:43
this is self this is actually kind of
3:45
cool as tiny little gadgets go this is a
3:47
really nice little adapter as long as
3:50
it'll fit now sometimes this won't be
3:52
able to fit correctly and that's why it
3:54
comes with like a 12-inch aux cord too
3:57
very handy so lots of usage cases for
4:01
this obviously for the car and for the
4:03
car there's probably one of the few
4:05
times where it won't actually be
4:07
beneficial that it has a microphone you
4:09
can take phone calls with this and
4:12
that's really nice so particularly if
4:14
you have like headphones or something
4:16
and it's right here that's gonna work
4:17
really well because the mics on board if
4:20
you have it on here then that's probably
4:23
not so great if you have a behind your
4:25
stereo and your arm yeah this
4:27
to the room clearly no one's gonna hear
4:29
you so you know you have to look at your
4:31
use case to decide whether having this
4:33
be an interactive device for your phone
4:36
is gonna actually be beneficial now let
4:39
me give you a super quick tour because
4:40
on the front you can see this sort of
4:42
glowing em that's their multifunction
4:45
button and with music it's pause play
4:47
with phone calls it's answer call hang
4:50
up and you can push and hold to get
4:52
various other features if it's hooked up
4:54
to a smart phone that would get then let
4:56
you do something like Siri or Google now
4:59
and then you can actually talk to this
5:02
again with the on-board microphone so
5:04
that's nice and then on the sides you
5:07
have the aux plug on one side on the top
5:10
you have an on/off slider I like on offs
5:13
where you can see what's going on and
5:15
then you have a volume up and down and
5:17
on the bottom you then have that micro
5:19
USB connection for charging so very
5:22
simple little device it works quite well
5:24
for what it does you can get them in
5:27
black or white but before we get to the
5:30
price let me ask if you can go ahead and
5:31
click on that subscribe button and if
5:33
you have a car that doesn't have
5:35
bluetooth but it has aux I want to hear
5:38
about it so in the comments tell me what
5:40
kind of car you have and what the deal
5:41
is and how you have been working with
5:43
that now a lot of phones you can plug
5:46
your headphone jack into your aux but
5:48
now you have a tethered phone that's a
5:50
little bit of a drag and of course with
5:52
some phones like the iPhone 10 there is
5:54
no audio jacks so you really don't have
5:57
that as a solution so you know that
5:59
makes this a really good use case so
6:01
that's all I got this is the new lack
6:04
CBR zero one bluetooth aux receiver
6:07
black or white 1269 at amazon.com and
6:12
when I looked the white one was actually
6:14
three cents cheaper so I guess pick your
6:17
color and then figure out what price
6:18
it's gonna be these are exactly the kind
6:21
of devices that I actually go and do a
6:23
fairly you know big exploratory shopping
6:26
trip online because you can often find
6:27
them for much lower prices but even
6:30
without that this is less than an you
6:33
know a decent lunch
6:34
so this is something that can add
6:35
bluetooth to a wide variety of devices
6:37
and that's a pretty cool thing so
6:40
Steve Taylor I'm gonna plug this back in
6:42
and get back to my music so I will catch
6:45
you in the next video
