hi this is dave taylor today we're going
0:05
to upgrade the memory on this macbook so
0:07
what do we need for this we need
0:10
a screwdriver little one
0:12
we need a coin pretty easy enough and we
0:15
need of course more memory so between
0:17
all of those it's not going to be hard
0:19
we're going to pop open the battery from
0:20
the back and in there these little slots
0:23
will pop out the old memory and get the
0:25
new one so let's jump in alright so
0:28
here's our macbook we need to flip it
0:29
over
0:31
that might be the hardest part of this
0:32
process then we need a coin
0:35
i'll use a quarter
0:37
and
0:38
we will do that pop the battery out
0:42
now put it aside and now it turns out
0:44
there are three screws here you can kind
0:47
of see it there in the video
0:49
and we're going to have to unscrew all
0:51
three of them i'll start on this side
0:54
there we go
0:55
so now as you can see we're pulling this
0:57
metal strip out
0:59
and
1:00
move my hands out of the way so you can
1:02
see it's actually pretty straightforward
1:03
the screws are still in it so that's
1:05
convenient we'll put it aside and now
1:08
you can see there's these little levers
1:11
all we have to do is flip it over
1:13
and we can do that on both of them
1:17
and now we have the memory ready to pull
1:19
out
1:23
there's one old memory card
1:26
and
1:28
there's two old memory cards and here's
1:30
the new ones
1:31
and the trick now is to orient them the
1:33
same way so it came out that way these
1:35
have to go in that way so
1:38
slides right in and you push it in until
1:41
you can feel that it actually
1:43
clicks into place
1:45
a little bit tricky
1:49
then we do the same with the other one
1:53
so
1:55
and this by the way this is kingston
1:56
memory um
1:58
they generously
2:00
gave us the memory for this project
2:02
which is nice so let's see i'll move it
2:04
here and
2:06
again
2:07
you have to be a little enthusiastic
2:09
about pushing them in until they're
2:12
firmly seated
2:14
and that's it now all we have to do is
2:16
put this back
2:20
let's
2:21
do the screws there's three
2:26
that's all we got to do and we have the
2:27
memory the battery
2:29
put that back in
2:31
while we're holding it down we take the
2:32
coin
2:34
lock it into place get the old memory
2:36
out of the way
2:38
and
2:39
done voila now give me a moment and
2:42
we'll start it and we'll see if we have
2:44
more memory
3:05
you
