out Dave Taylor here and I want to talk
0:12
about smart watches now we're not
0:14
talking about the Apple watch I'm not
0:16
talking about the Samsung Gear 2 or
0:18
anything like that I'm talking about
0:20
this this is the zi Emma fit Pace this
0:25
is a pretty interesting Smartwatch it is
0:28
a Bluetooth Sports Smartwatch so it has
0:31
heart rate monitor it has GPS it's not
0:35
quite running Android Wear they have
0:38
their own version of the software and
0:40
there's a lot to really like about it
0:41
it's pretty slick little device however
0:44
it has a really interesting screen which
0:47
and you're not going to even believe me
0:48
I'll try to show you this but it's
0:51
actually brighter and easier to see in
0:53
direct sunlight than it is in a dark
0:55
room so one of the things you find with
0:57
this is that you sort of hold it a
0:59
different angles and then you get to a
1:01
certain angle and suddenly it's nice and
1:03
visible so here's an insert that'll show
1:05
you a little bit of that but this is
1:07
like the core challenge with this watch
1:10
is that if you're going to be doing a
1:12
lot of outdoor activity they're what
1:14
they call Trans reflective LCD screen
1:18
works great but here just inside just
1:21
looking straight on the watch it's
1:23
barely readable which is super
1:26
frustrating because it doesn't have a
1:28
brightness control but before we go too
1:30
far down that particular issue let's
1:32
talk about what it does have so has
1:35
built-in GPS it's an IP67 waterproof
1:39
design and here's the thing that's going
1:41
to really get you if you're used to like
1:42
the Apple watch this is 11 days on a
1:45
charge now that's with fairly little use
1:48
but even if you use this super
1:49
aggressively and you have continuous
1:52
heart rate monitor and you have the GPS
1:54
on because you're on some big hike or
1:56
something it'll still last a couple of
1:58
days in typical use it's about 5 days
2:02
takes 3 hours to charge and you charge
2:04
it using this little cradle then if I
2:08
take it off I'll show you on the back
2:10
there are little electrical connector
2:13
dots and then this has those same
2:17
connector dots you line it up and then
2:19
there's a micro USB and you're good to
2:21
go 3 hours of charge from nothing to
2:24
full not too bad at all um you can do a
2:28
variety of different Sports it tracks
2:31
Trail distance altitude number of steps
2:35
you can track your heart rate it does
2:37
sleep tracking if you can find it and
2:40
I'll get back to that too um you can
2:42
connect headphones via Bluetooth and it
2:45
actually has onboard memory something
2:47
between like 2 or 3 gab of memory and
2:50
you can download up to somewhere about
2:52
500 songs and then have this connected
2:55
to your little Bluetooth waterproof
2:57
Sports Buds and you can go for for a run
3:00
or a hike and you don't even need your
3:01
phone at all the GPS works just on this
3:05
you know the music works just on this
3:07
there's a lot of things they got right
3:10
um it does all sorts of notifications
3:12
there's both an iPhone and an Android
3:15
app that you need to get you pair them
3:17
and then the app gives you some level of
3:19
control and there's also controls on the
3:21
watch itself um has lots of watch faces
3:24
that's one thing I really like you can
3:26
see here there's a lot of different
3:27
choices and you you know then there's
3:31
stuff so um one of the other issues is
3:34
it's stuck in 24-hour mode so if you're
3:37
someone who at 300 p.m. in the afternoon
3:40
wants to look at your watch and have it
3:41
say 3 not 15 you got an issue so one of
3:46
the ways to do that is to only use faces
3:48
that have hands so then you sort of
3:51
sidestep that but part of the fun of
3:53
this is actually having these nice
3:55
bright digital faces which doesn't
3:59
actually work great because it's in
4:01
24-hour mode so you know the brightness
4:04
you can't control you can't control
4:06
24-hour or 12h hour mode there's just
4:09
certain features that it's just very
4:11
surprising the company hasn't made
4:13
available to us actual users um has a
4:16
ceramic bezel so it's scratch resistant
4:20
and the screen this is kind of cool if
4:22
you can read it and of course this as as
4:24
I said works great outdoors it's always
4:26
on so that's 11 days of an always on
4:30
screen and this is something where if
4:32
you're using something like an Apple
4:33
Watch you probably live in permanent
4:35
frustration that you know the watch
4:38
isn't always on so you can't just glance
4:40
down and see what time it is you have to
4:42
physically do something to make it turn
4:44
on that's a little tedious so I really
4:47
like the alwayson feature um the screen
4:51
however isn't actually active for touch
4:54
until you either push the one button on
4:57
the side or you can set it to do a a
4:59
double tap and then it actually turns on
5:02
and now you can swipe around and do
5:04
stuff and I'll just show you just a
5:05
little bit it's kind of confusing it's
5:08
sort of like Snapchat where it's like if
5:10
you move this way then this way then
5:12
this way then you get to different
5:14
screens um but there's a lot of data
5:16
here there's a lot of stuff going on and
5:18
I just feel like this is a good reminder
5:21
that there's a certain level of user
5:23
interface that needs to be designed for
5:25
these watches to really work well as
5:28
wearables that you don't really have to
5:30
think about now one more cool thing has
5:32
Wi-Fi connectivity so if you're really
5:34
in a pinch you can actually connect via
5:37
Wi-Fi which is nice and in terms of the
5:40
specs it is a 1.3 in screen it's pretty
5:43
big it's 12 mm thick and the screen
5:47
itself is 320x 300 in of course a
5:50
circular
5:51
orientation and it uses what they call a
5:54
trans reflective color
5:57
LCD now there's a lot I like about this
6:00
there's a lot I think they got right but
6:02
the biggest thing that I think is an
6:04
obstacle that you have to know about
6:06
before you decide to get one is the
6:08
brightness Outdoors it's great I really
6:11
I mean it's just a fantastic outdoor
6:13
watch and if you're in bright sunlight
6:15
again it's just it's like
6:17
counterintuitive in bright sunlight the
6:19
screen's crystal clear and bright and
6:21
Vivid but in indoor use in environment
6:25
like this it's hard to read and so what
6:28
I find doing that I'm doing is I'm like
6:31
tilting my wrist to different angles
6:33
just to get just the right angle where I
6:35
can actually see what's on the screen
6:37
and that's annoying I want to be able to
6:39
actually have it where you know whatever
6:42
they do a brighter backlight some sort
6:44
of a sensor that can tell I'm looking at
6:46
it which would be the Apple watch
6:47
solution I want something where it
6:49
doesn't mean that I have to work if I
6:52
want to see what time it is that just
6:53
seems like such a basic sort of thing or
6:55
of course it would be the same for
6:56
reading a notification or anything else
6:59
so
7:00
this is the zomi Amaze fit pace and you
7:05
can pick up one for yourself if you're
7:07
still interested it's 116 bucks so it's
7:09
not a huge investment and it is a good
7:12
sports watch with a lot of those sort of
7:14
features that you'd want 116 bucks at
7:17
gearbest.com this is Dave Taylor
7:22
and I just wish they would have made
7:24
this just a little better but maybe the
7:26
next generation will be something really
7:28
cool so that's all I got and I'll catch
7:30
you oh wait whoa I'm not going to catch
7:32
you yet cuz I want to ask you to click
7:34
that subscribe button awesome now I'll
7:38
catch you in my next video
