Back to the 70s with this cool vintage Casio watch. Let's check it out
0:12
Dave Taylor here and I'm checking out this. This is the Casio Vintage A100 digital watch
0:18
and it is a reproduction of the F100 which was the original Casio resin cast watch which was huge
0:27
Now it's most famously known as the watch that Ripley was wearing in the movie Alien
0:33
It was released in 1977. This is a reproduction of it and it's pretty fun. Now this is a small
0:42
watch. I don't know whether watches got bigger or our wrists got bigger or what but if I put
0:48
this on my wrist you can see it's a pretty small watch for my wrist size but it is pretty fun and
0:55
it does have a bunch of cool features. Most notably are the four buttons on the front. So
1:01
instead of having side buttons which is such a more common watch design all of that appears on
1:07
the front which leads you to the question of well what does what and here's something they've done
1:12
that's really cool is if you flip it over and look on the back on the metal they've actually
1:17
engraved the function identification of those four buttons. So that reminds me that for example
1:25
the top right button is illumination so if I push that the screen lights up. Mostly what you'll find
1:31
that you're using is the lower left button which is the mode button which basically steps between
1:37
time and alarm and stopwatch. If you're in stopwatch mode the lower right button is start and
1:44
stop the upper left button is reset and that's pretty much all you got. So it has calendar
1:51
stopwatch, daily alarm, hourly time alarm, led illuminated, it is water resistant so if you're
1:58
out and it starts raining you don't have to panic and let's see accuracy within 30 seconds a month
2:05
and it runs off of an actual watch battery. No solar power, no bluetooth, no I don't know whatever
2:12
modern atomic power that you would dreamed of in the 70s would be here in 2022. It is a CR1616
2:20
and it gives you about three hours of battery life per battery so that's plenty long enough
2:26
and it has a really interesting clasp. It's a very different style because it's a user adjustable
2:31
clasp and luckily I found that it actually is pretty much the right size just as is and you
2:39
just sort of put it on and give it a push and there it is it's on my wrist that's as easy as
2:45
it gets. Not a huge fan of the clasp I found that occasionally it would undo all by itself. I actually
2:51
talked to Casio about that and they said we haven't experienced that before so maybe it's just
2:56
my wrist I have like an anti-magnetic wrist. Be that as it may it's pretty sweet and it's affordable
3:04
too so if we take it off let me just take it off and get it here again for you. So really all we
3:12
need to do now is talk about the price. This is the A100WE1AVT that gives you the stainless steel finish
3:23
the original F100 was actually that black resin they have that too as a reproduction but this is
3:29
the stainless steel model and it is the like I said Casio Vintage A100 digital watch and it's
3:38
$54.95 at Casio.com. I think it's really cool and I appreciate your feedback give me some comments
3:47
tell me what else you wish I would have shown you give me a thumbs up whatever all of that super
3:53
appreciated that's all I got I'm gonna put this back on my wrist and just be really retro today
3:59
and since it's from the mid 70s I suppose I'm gonna have to listen to some disco too
4:06
that's how it is and I'll hope to catch you in my next video
