Klipsch R6 Wireless Bluetooth Earbud Headphones Review

Wireless earbuds present some major challenges around where to have the electronics necessary for the connection, along with the battery. Most modern designs have the electronics as a "collar" around your neck, but audiophile favorite Klipsch has taken a different tact with its slick R6 wireless bluetooth earbuds, having the electronics tucked behind your ears. Dave Taylor of http://www.AskDaveTaylor.com/ tries them out and finds that they're quite good, particularly with the addition of aptX and AAC decoding support.

hi Dave Taylor here and this time I want
0:13
to look at the clips are six wireless
0:16
earbud headphones it's a lot of words so
0:19
let me just show you what we're talking
0:20
about here
0:21
these are the clips and they make really
0:23
nice high end audio gear so this is
0:26
their version of wireless earbuds and if
0:28
you think about earbuds that aren't
0:30
wired connected to your phone or your
0:33
other listening device then you realize
0:35
you got a problem with where do the
0:37
electronics live do they live on a
0:39
little box are they like that collar
0:41
that you have with little earbuds
0:43
sticking up what they've done is pretty
0:45
innovative actually is they have
0:47
actually electronics that go over each
0:50
ear as you can see here and then it's a
0:53
matter of just real quickly you can just
0:56
put it over your ear slip the earbud
0:58
part in and I can do the same with this
1:01
one so you can actually see what I'm
1:02
doing so behind the ear in the ear boom
1:05
done and it's Bluetooth so all you have
1:08
to do is there's a button actually I'll
1:10
take them off again there's a couple of
1:12
controls on the top here I'll show you a
1:14
close-up there one of which gives you
1:16
access to the charging plug and the
1:19
other one is your basic on-off control
1:21
it also lets you pair things and such
1:22
but once you've bluetooth paired it
1:24
which is pretty easy then all you have
1:27
to do is put them in turn them on and
1:29
then you're hooked up to whatever device
1:30
you want and then like on here on my
1:33
phone I can just choose music and play
1:35
or of course I can actually listen to
1:37
voice mail or whatever they do have
1:40
signed sound isolation technology which
1:44
is really kind of fancy industry jargon
1:46
for you can get an earbud big enough to
1:49
seal your ear and that's a good thing
1:51
that actually works really well they're
1:55
super comfortable when they're fully
1:56
charged they have at least eight hours
1:58
of listening life to them before you
2:00
need to charge them again and here's
2:02
what's interesting about them is if they
2:04
actually have but what's called a PTX
2:07
and AAC decoding and here's the thing is
2:10
when you're listening to bluetooth
2:12
bluetooth
2:13
presses audio and it doesn't come out in
2:15
full fidelity now you might have noticed
2:17
this you might not have this is one of
2:20
the reasons that we actually prefer here
2:22
at ask dave taylor for people to
2:24
actually send us wired devices wired
2:27
headphones and such because you don't
2:30
really i don't think unless you really
2:32
need the bluetooth you're paying a price
2:34
enter aptX or apt x as some people call
2:38
it and the idea of this is this is a
2:40
higher quality audio compression system
2:43
that can be grafted on to bluetooth and
2:46
the end result of that is that you
2:48
actually get better quality HD quality i
2:51
don't know why high-definition works on
2:54
tvs but also on headphones be that as it
2:57
may you get HD quality audio through
3:00
bluetooth and AAC is another encoding or
3:03
system where it can actually compress
3:06
the audio and then decompress it on the
3:08
device the end result of all of that is
3:11
that if you have a modern device that
3:13
can handle these more sophisticated
3:14
technologies then these earbuds also can
3:18
decode it which means you're going to
3:19
get a better quality audio it's going to
3:22
just sound better even exactly the same
3:24
music will actually sound better on
3:26
these headphones in practice I find that
3:29
they're actually really nice and they
3:31
work really well it's a good compromise
3:33
because there's a little bit of weight
3:34
behind your ear but not enough that it's
3:36
really noticeable and there's certainly
3:38
plenty comfortable for many hours at a
3:40
time
3:41
so really I'm a fan of clips anyway I
3:44
think they make really nice audio gear
3:46
and these are six wireless headphones
3:49
I'll show you this part of the box
3:50
instead are a really nice addition to
3:53
the line and so if you're looking for
3:55
Bluetooth but you don't want to have too
3:57
much compromise on audio quality these
3:59
could be a really good choice for you to
4:01
check out so they are a hundred and
4:03
forty 9.99 and you can learn more about
4:06
the r6 wireless earbuds owns at clip
4:10
comm this is Dave Taylor and catch you
4:13
in my next video
