These will make your current earbuds sound like junk. Let's check these out
0:11
Dave Taylor here and this time I'm checking out these. These are the Beyerdynamic Soulbird
0:17
wired in-ear headphones. Now it's a lot of words. I would just call them earbuds. You can see they
0:23
are just sort of traditional earbuds. They're wired. They have in fact a four foot or 1.2 meter
0:29
cable. You plug them into something that has an audio jack so they're not bluetooth or anything
0:34
Put them in your ears and you're ready to rock and roll. Now one thing that's really cool that
0:38
I'm going to show you real quick is it comes with a really nice little hard case so that your
0:44
earbuds or in-ear headphones will stay in good shape. Let's actually open it up. I'll show you
0:49
what's inside and it's a very nice design and on this side it actually comes with five pairs of
0:57
ear tips so you can get exactly the right size. Now anytime you're wearing something with ear
1:03
tips you want to keep trying different sizes until you get the perfect size. Now this we will just
1:08
toss on the floor. We don't need it anymore. So let me tell you about the earbuds themselves
1:13
So these are actually pretty sweet. They have a frequency response of 10 to 25,000 hertz
1:20
with 18 ohm impedance which means they get crazy loud. So even with my phone they get way loud so
1:27
you're gonna have to be really careful not to hurt your hearing. They have 103 decibels of sound
1:32
pressure level and total harmonic distortion is less than 0.015 percent. That's pretty crazy
1:40
Now worried that they're super heavy because you can see there's a lot to them. These are really
1:44
heavy right? No they're not. They're 0.6 ounces so you will have no idea. They're super comfortable
1:51
so basically you'll put these in, you'll crank up some music and you will be in really good shape
1:57
Now let me actually untangle them here and I will show you what they look like on. Oops that made
2:03
them more tangled. There's always something right and then there's always someone else waiting for
2:08
that piece of gym equipment saying can you stop messing with your headphones and just get on with
2:13
it please. But we're not going to do that. We're going to mess with our headphones because I need
2:18
to untangle them. Now let's see. They do have a inline three button controller which is pretty
2:24
standard nowadays and that works for of course iPhones and Android. And I will put them in my
2:30
ears so you can see. These are really just you know straight ahead earbuds. So you put them in
2:36
your ears. The wire is a y-shape. It goes down the front and then you have a nice long lead that gets
2:43
to your device and you're ready to listen. So three button remote, hard case, five pairs of
2:49
ear tips and there's even a little clip if you want to actually clip it on. I generally take those
2:57
off. I don't use that but you might. And let me just tell you the sound is fantastic. I mean really
3:04
it's surprising. Now of course you want to get the right size ear tips but I really was surprised
3:10
for the price point. These sound dramatically better than some of the lower end earbuds
3:15
Especially like the stuff that comes with modern smartphones. You pay 900, 1000, 1500 bucks for
3:22
headphones. I'm sorry for a smartphone and it comes with these cheesy little nine dollar earbuds
3:28
Really? So that's where these are really nice. These are a relatively modest upgrade that's going
3:34
to significantly improve your sound. Now the only caveat I will say is that when I use this for phone
3:42
calls it sounds good. The person on the other end said it sounded good but that I was relatively
3:48
faint. So I did have to talk a little bit louder or possibly you can do that by just moving the
3:52
microphone closer which you see a lot of people do. Which I think is a bit of a design error but
3:57
whatever if that's what you got to do that's what you got to do. So definitely from the music side
4:02
these sound fantastic. Now let me tell you the price but before I tell you the price let me ask
4:07
if you can subscribe to my channel. I really appreciate that. Okay now these are the Beyerdynamic
4:14
Soulbird probably not named after the band and probably not named after the jazz musician but
4:20
who knows right. Beyerdynamic Soulbird and they will cost you 89 bucks straight out at amazon.com
4:27
and they are a really smart investment. If you don't want to be doing bluetooth, if you don't
4:31
want wireless stuff going around your head, I understand these are a really great wired
4:36
alternative. The only caveat I would say is make sure that your phone has a 3.5 millimeter jack
4:43
like this Samsung Galaxy S8 because if you have a more modern phone that doesn't have that jack
4:48
then this ain't gonna plug in anywhere and you're gonna be very disappointed. But you probably already know that. So that's all I got. I'm gonna go back to my Spotify
4:57
which means I'll catch you in my next video
