A USB car charger with a built-in 3000mAh battery is a great idea, but Nomad's a bit ahead of the game with the new Roadtrip, as Dave Taylor from http://www.AskDaveTaylor.com/ explains in this review.

hi Dave Taylor here and this time I want
0:13
to talk about the nomad road trip that's
0:16
this guy now you probably can't see the
0:18
packaging very well even if I open it so
0:21
let's pull it out of the packaging the
0:23
road trip is basically a USB car charger
0:27
but here's where they've got neat is it
0:30
has a built-in 3,000 milliamp battery so
0:33
the idea is and you can see it's a bit
0:36
big for a car charger quite frankly but
0:38
you plug it into your vehicle and as
0:40
you're driving along you're charging
0:42
your phone you're charging your watch
0:43
you're charging your tablet whatever it
0:45
is then once you get there you pop this
0:48
baby out and with the push of a button
0:50
I'm going to see the little lights light
0:52
up you probably can't see that but
0:54
basically now you have a battery that
0:56
gives you the ability to extend the life
0:58
of any of your devices so 3,000 milliamp
1:01
hours will be a full charge for an
1:03
iphone and a lot more so you can put
1:06
this in your briefcase in your purse and
1:09
then as you need it hours later maybe
1:11
between your third and fourth class of
1:13
the day maybe at the end of a day of
1:16
workshops or something at a trade show
1:18
you know you have the ability to charge
1:20
again so really cool idea i really like
1:24
this and i like the designs of what
1:26
Nomad does but here's the thing is I
1:30
think they've jumped the gun a little
1:32
bit because there are two ports on this
1:34
there's one USB port USB a I should call
1:38
it which is the standard one you
1:40
probably have lots of cables and you
1:41
know plugs right in and you'll be able
1:43
to charge whatever device you want but
1:45
they also have a USBC cable and that's
1:48
what's on the top and the thing about us
1:51
bc is as of yet there's really nothing
1:54
out using that now I know the macbook
1:57
pro also uses USB see but that's the
2:00
other end of the cable alright so you
2:03
know the idea of having that be the
2:05
primary spot on the top I think might be
2:08
a really great one for I don't know 2016
2:11
2017 the
2:13
iphone 7 iphone 8 the you know Galaxy
2:17
Tab 12 whatever it is down the road this
2:20
is going to be really cool but right now
2:22
I think it's a bit of a limitation so I
2:25
would really love to see a version of
2:27
this product with two USB a and the USBC
2:31
maybe that's the one you put on the side
2:33
for the future maybe you just don't have
2:35
it I don't know but at $59 it's kind of
2:39
an expensive solution to now you can buy
2:42
three thousand milliamp hour batteries
2:44
pretty cheap nowadays and of course the
2:47
car chargers you can go into any
2:49
convenience store and for five bucks you
2:51
can pick up some cheap plastic e little
2:53
thing now I'm not saying those are the
2:55
equivalent to this because this is
2:56
certainly well and elegantly designed
2:58
but you know the biggest issue isn't
3:01
even the price it's just the USBC
3:03
because at this moment in time and I
3:05
have a lot of devices and a lot of
3:07
gadgets none of them would plug into the
3:10
USB see so this is the Nomad road trip
3:15
you can learn more at hello Nomad com
3:18
this is dave taylor saying check it out
3:20
if you especially if you have a USBC
3:22
smartphone or USBC tablet or something
3:25
this could be a really nice solution for
3:27
you but if you're looking for just us be
3:29
a just regular old devices you might be
3:32
a little ahead of the game with this one
3:34
so i'll see you in my next video
