Dave Taylor of https://www.AskDaveTaylor.com/ reviews the Samsung Galaxy S7 running Android 6.0 Marshmallow and finds it a "honey" of a smartphone, one of the very best on the market today regardless of operating system. In particular, the camera is amazingly good, as he explains in this video review...

Dave Taylor here again and this time I
0:12
want to talk about the latest and
0:14
greatest from Samsung that's the galaxy
0:16
s7 that's this and this is a honey of a
0:20
phone this is the nicest smartphone that
0:22
i actually have seen on the market right
0:24
now and there's just so much they've
0:27
done right they've really learned from
0:28
all the previous generations of the
0:30
galaxy phones one example is look real
0:33
closely people that had previous
0:35
generations of the samsung galaxy phone
0:37
remember with frustration how the camera
0:41
stuck out so if you put the device flat
0:43
on the ground or flat on a table it
0:46
wouldn't actually be flat on the table
0:48
it would stick out a little bit well the
0:50
s7 solves that problem and it solves
0:53
that problem with a pretty extraordinary
0:54
camera this camera is so good that i'm
0:58
using this now all the time to take
1:00
pictures even within sets and picture in
1:03
pictures on other videos i'm doing so
1:05
this is the nicest most convenient
1:07
camera and that's just one of the
1:09
features on this s7 so it also has a
1:12
fingerprint scanner and you can't really
1:14
tell but the home button I don't know
1:16
why it keeps going there the home button
1:19
actually is a thumbprint or fingerprint
1:21
scanner pretty darn easy to set up and
1:23
this is a 5.1 inch display if it can
1:27
actually stop going to other places it's
1:29
a five-point 10 a.m. 0 le d display and
1:34
it's running at 2560 x 1440 which gives
1:38
it a pretty amazing 577 dots per inch
1:41
that is as good or better than mostly
1:45
what you get from paper and print outs
1:46
right so a printer runs it probably 600
1:49
DPI this is basically that level of
1:52
quality and crispness it's really really
1:55
nice the rear camera is the nice one it
1:58
has what's called dual pixel which gives
2:00
it super fast autofocus and act like i
2:03
said it's very crisp and because of that
2:06
technology it works very well in low
2:08
light situations I've been testing it
2:10
out and if you go on ask dave taylor
2:11
here's a link you can click on an art
2:13
or I'll show you photos from this phone
2:16
the s7 vs. photos from the iphone 6s
2:20
which is the Apple's latest and greatest
2:22
you know what does a better job it does
2:24
better pictures the front facing camera
2:27
is a 5 megapixel camera you know quite
2:31
adequate certainly great for selfies and
2:33
for when you're doing video chats for
2:35
those of you that like to do that the
2:37
processor itself is a two point one five
2:39
gigahertz quad-core too and it actually
2:44
also has a second 1.6 gigahertz so
2:47
there's a lot of processing power going
2:49
on in here and 3,000 milliamp hour
2:52
battery so that's also really great and
2:54
what people are saying in the field is
2:57
they're saying that they are running
2:58
this from the beginning of the day all
3:00
the way to the end of the day and still
3:02
having thirty or forty percent charge
3:03
that's really nice because if you're
3:06
running a modern smartphone all out and
3:08
you're using video and you're playing
3:11
games and you're checking your email and
3:13
you're instagramming and all this stuff
3:14
doesn't take long for that little
3:16
battery indicator to go down to the
3:18
point where you're like need to plug it
3:20
in again well putting a bigger battery
3:23
in this has really helped that and I
3:25
will say on standby it seems to run
3:27
about two or three days if you just
3:29
leave it untouched based on our testing
3:31
but that's pretty good too because who
3:33
the heck doesn't use their smartphone i
3:35
mean really come on these are designed
3:37
for people to use them see what else it
3:40
charges with micro USB on the bottom
3:43
here which is really nice because a lot
3:45
of vendors are moving towards us bc and
3:48
that's a whole new set of cables a whole
3:50
new set of chargers and i understand the
3:53
move towards it because it is a better
3:55
technology but i like that i can use
3:57
existing cables and existing docks and
4:00
such so another point for the galaxy s7
4:03
let's see its water resistant i have
4:06
opted not to test it because this is
4:08
only a loaner from AT&T and i'm pretty
4:11
sure they get pretty upset if I like
4:12
dropped it in water and they said oh
4:14
that's not what water resistant means
4:16
cakes so we're not testing that but what
4:20
samsung says is that if you drop it in a
4:22
puddle if it falls into the sink and you
4:26
pull it out real quick
4:27
and such you're fine it's not going to
4:29
damage the phone pretty cool apparently
4:31
there's also moisture sensors in the
4:33
connectors so if you try to connect it
4:35
and there's moisture sensed then it
4:38
actually won't charge and won't make the
4:39
connection to make sure there's no short
4:41
so pretty slick running Android 6.0
4:44
marshmallow the latest and greatest
4:46
version of Android and that's a win too
4:48
and let's see what else samsung pay well
4:51
it goes without saying is that Apple pay
4:54
as it is widely accepted is it something
4:56
that you're going to be using a lot well
4:58
that's up to you but it's nice to know
5:00
that that features supported and one of
5:03
the other things that's interesting
5:04
about this is that this is the first
5:07
phone you can see here I've turned it
5:09
off but the display is still on so this
5:12
is what an samsung calls they're always
5:15
on display and you can customize it or
5:18
if you really really want to be super
5:21
fastidious about your battery life you
5:23
can turn it off but I kind of like it
5:25
because then when it just like is
5:26
sitting on the table it's working and I
5:29
can glance over and I can see what time
5:31
it is that's pretty nice actually and
5:33
let's see no removable battery though
5:37
you can put in micro SD card so you can
5:41
actually it comes with 32 gig of storage
5:43
but you can put up to 200 gigabyte more
5:45
not sure why you'd need that much
5:48
storage on your phone but different
5:50
users different use cases I like that it
5:53
has the micro SD again that was
5:54
something that was lacking in the s6
5:56
because they actually took the microsd
5:58
support out and people had a heart
6:00
attack and so now the microsd support is
6:02
back which is great does not have a user
6:05
removable battery you win some you lose
6:08
some I think that's going to be
6:10
something that's going to be from the
6:11
past actually because more streamlined
6:14
designs and more tight and certainly
6:17
like with water resistant and stuff
6:18
having the back be able to pop open to
6:21
change batteries makes that a little
6:22
harder to accomplish the other thing
6:25
people are saying is that the front is
6:27
overly reflective and that it's a little
6:29
smudge prone I can see here you can't
6:32
see this but I can see a lot of thumb
6:34
prints which probably makes the NSA
6:36
really happy but for the rest of us it
6:39
means you're probably going to be not
6:41
frequently doing this sort of thing or
6:42
rubbing it on your sleeve I don't see
6:44
that is a huge problem but it's worth
6:46
noting check it out in the store if
6:47
that's something you think of bug you
6:48
anyway Samsung Galaxy s7 really really
6:53
awesome android phone i would say
6:55
probably a fair statement to say it's
6:58
the best smartphone on the market right
6:59
now and there's a reason people are
7:01
falling in love with this device amazing
7:03
camera really really nice feel to it and
7:06
a pretty hefty price tag to go with it
7:09
so this device is 695 bucks if you go
7:13
through someone like AT&T it comes in
7:16
black this color or gold and if you go
7:20
through someone like AT&T they also have
7:22
various payment programs and such so you
7:24
can get it for as little as twenty three
7:26
bucks a month and I've seen a lot of
7:28
smart but smart phone carriers are also
7:30
running promos buy one get one free
7:32
upgrade your lines all that sort of
7:34
stuff anyway this is dave taylor and
7:36
this is one of the few devices i'm gonna
7:38
be really bummed to send back so AT&T
7:40
wireless you owe me because i'm sending
7:43
this back and not keeping it samsung
7:45
galaxy s7 dave taylor catching my next
