Propping up your smartphone or tablet and hoping it won't slip is frustrating! Fortunately there's a solution and it looks like a rubber donut, of all things. Tech expert Dave Taylor of https://www.AskDaveTaylor.com/ checks out the GoDonut Original and new GoDonut 360 and finds that they are really good solutions, whether you want to use your device in the kitchen, office or have it on your bedside table. With a few caveats, that is...

These donuts will change the way you use your mobile devices
0:03
Let's check them out. Dave Taylor here and I'm checking out these
0:14
These super colorful donuts are the Go donut and they are available in a ton of different colors
0:22
And this is the basic unit and this is the 360 version
0:27
We'll come back to that in a minute. And the idea is really simple. You take your device, you put it on the stand, and it works just fine
0:34
You can use that with tablets, and you can do it on the other side, you can do it with a different orientation, all of that
0:43
Nice and simple, right? So with these, the basic unit, it does not swivel, it does not turn
0:50
It's basically just a piece of super hard rubber, and you drop it down if you want to use it in the kitchen
0:56
if you want to have your device adjacent to your computer or laptop, super easy to work with
1:02
Four inches across, four ounces, and they feel like they're sufficiently rugged that if you left it on the top of your car and went for a drive and then went back and found it
1:12
it would be in perfect shape because these are really tough. Now, nine different colors
1:17
It comes in blue and yellow and black and hunter green and red and pink and lime green and orange and orange
1:26
And purple. Super fun, right? Simple. Now, what the 360 swivel does is it actually adds an ability for you to put it on the stand
1:36
There tiny holes here and there tiny pins on the stand So now and I use even use my big iPads kind of an older iPad but it is a full size 10 inch And you notice I have left the screen on and it fits and it works
1:54
And now with the swivel, I can turn it to whatever angle I want, super easy to work with
2:02
And I will say that just sort of by the nature of the way weight works
2:08
if you have it this way, then it's... It's a bit tilty
2:15
If I did it with this without the swivel stand, then it's, I guess it still kind of works
2:23
It's not as good. So certainly if I do this, then we have an issue
2:30
But what they say is if you want to have it at that angle, then you use two of them
2:36
So now I can have it at this angle if I want. And as you can see, it's working fine
2:41
It has by having two of these. these, it gives me enough stability that I can actually have it at this funny angle, or I can
2:49
just use one and use it at the steeper angle like that
2:54
So all really simple. Now the 360 gives you, like I said, it gives you that 360 swivel, which is darn handy, and
3:03
let's just use the iPad Mini. This is sort of the compromise size, right
3:08
And again, I'll put this on the stand. And that works great
3:14
And if I don't want it to spin, then comes with this
3:19
which is just a little basically a cap that goes over one side
3:23
and it just stops it from spinning. So now, if I wanted to do this
3:28
I could simply position it where I want, not worry about the spin But if I doing that then I can probably just get the original Go donut and not worry about this swivel in the first place So tradeoffs I actually think this is really a super fun solution
3:44
This is one of these things where it's just like, yeah, okay
3:48
I mean, but on the other hand, if you've been trying to like tilt this against a can or a cup of coffee or something or even your phone and then it slips down and everything, having one of these is a lifesaver
4:01
This is super easy. Now, I will say that it is sensitive to thickness as well as to angle
4:08
So if you have it too far back with just one, as you saw, it will tilt a little bit
4:13
But I want to also point out that I have a case on here, and that case means that this is pretty snug
4:20
I had to really sort of work it in here. It's not going to just slide on in. Now, on the steeper angle, then that works just fine
4:28
Let me get back to my screen. and obviously I can do it this way too, though that's a pretty steep angle there
4:36
But here, now I have a bit of a problem because it is thick
4:40
I can push it to go in and that works fine. And the good news with that is that it's also very stable
4:46
And honestly, this is pretty cool. This is a really nice solution to a problem that I'm sure you have, that all of us have
4:54
So it's really it. There's not much else I can tell you about these. It's pretty simple
4:58
It's a piece of hard rubber. They've very thoughtfully figured out all the cutouts and angles
5:03
You can get the 360 swivel if you want. If you get the swivel, you can also use this to stop it swiveling
5:10
Not sure what the logic is there. And I suppose we should just talk about the price
5:14
So before we get to the price, I'm going to ask if you could go ahead and leave me a comment
5:21
What do you think of this What color would you get given that there nine different colors for this thing And go ahead and tap on that subscribe button and subscribe to my channel Really appreciate when you do that Thank you
5:32
All right. These are the Go Donut original and they are 1999
5:37
And if you want to get one with the swivel base too, and I'll go ahead and put this on here, then let's see the Go donut with the swivel base is 2999
5:50
can check them both out at amazon.com i have links in my description simple straightforward solution
5:57
there's no hassles it's not complicated there's no tech involved this is going to be something that
6:02
is super tough and it's going to last forever so you get a new tablet you're good now i will say that
6:08
not only does it have issues if you have a thicker case but the company also says that it's not
6:14
compatible with the ipad pro so that's something to know if you have an ipad pro although
6:20
I still feel like if you really had to, if the issue was stability, then you could get two
6:26
And that would work with the iPad Pro. I don't have one. I can't test it. But otherwise, with all of these, this is great
6:32
And this is the kind of thing that I'm just going to leave in my kitchen. So when I'm cooking, I can have my tablet
6:37
I can have the recipe and the whole things at a perfect angle. And then when I'm done, I pop it off and I can get back to what I'm doing
6:44
So, go donut. Maybe not as good as a real donut, but pretty darn helpful
6:48
That's all I got. And I hope to catch you. in my next video
