Hey, I'm Jocelyn and this is Sandra and it's Friday, so we are making cocktails
0:05
And today, you want to tell us what we're making? Yeah, we're going to do a classic daiquiri
0:10
And I think most people think, a lot of people think of a daiquiri as this sort of frozen concoction that you get out of your skin
0:16
Yes, it's right. It's this adult version of an icy or slushy, right
0:21
Exactly, but it goes way back. Oh, what is it? Yeah. So why don't you tell them about this
0:26
Okay, so while you make, she is going to put all the ingredients into a shaker, a tin with ice, right
0:34
How much? We're going to start with two ounces. Okay, so this is like, daiquiris were always things that were served up in a cocktail glass, a coupe, something like that, like a martini glass
0:49
They were not these frozen concoctions, although those are perfectly fine. This is a little more sophisticated, don't you think
0:56
It's just, it's the old school way. This is the origins of those free drinks that we have now
1:02
And fruit is actually, the rum and fruit are the two basic pieces that you have to have
1:08
Right. And the original was lime, not like the strawberry, raspberry, watermelon
1:14
and all the other crazy things we've dreamt up since. Not that those aren amazing but this classic one is just kind of once you have it you be like wow now I get it Like you see a different side of the daiquiri Yeah So what I did was I put in two ounces of the rum and then half that amount of lime
1:32
An ounce of lime. And then just half again, a half an ounce of simple syrup
1:37
So balancing that sweet and sour. And that's the thing. These are so much less sugary
1:43
They're sweet, but they're not... They're just a sour and sour, right
1:48
So if y'all have watched this before, you know that we are big fans of reading and literature and things
2:04
Hemingway was a huge fan of the classic daiquiri. And so much so that he has a daiquiri named after him, the Hemingway daiquiri
2:13
And we're going to make that in another video. Yes? Oh, yes. this is so bright and it's it's refreshing and chill but it's not that oh my gosh i have a
2:28
brain freeze and i'm gonna have a sugar high right after this is just to me this is just a much more
2:34
sophisticated drink um as far as daiquiri is going i love these so i hope y'all really seriously try
2:42
this version of a daiquiri and enjoy. Cheers
