How often should you buy new tires? If you ask this question in a store that sells car tires, you will most likely hear something like 3-5 years. But that’s not true. If the tire still has optimal tread size, it can go much longer than that. Well-known car tire manufacturers like Bridgestone, for example, clearly say that it’s recommended to replace tires after they reach about 10 years of age unless the tread is worn out faster than that. The minimum legal tread size for tires is usually about 1.5-1.6 mm depending on the country and state.
