You dribble that ball up and down those country roads, a C student, but your intelligence was one

of a mystery on a verge to unfold. From plays, spelling bees, and advocating for a plethora of

disabilities, you stood fast on your dreams and carried that mind and ball on your hip

Entered college, Bowie State on a full basketball scholarship. Of course, bumps and U-turns made

their mark, but somehow, little one, your journey always had a start. I remember thinking you weren't

going to make it, riotous living, trying to cope, dabble it and all, partying, drinking and dope

but little one, that knowledge you never escaped, and that's why I know little Danae was worth the

wait. Writing you now just to say how proud of you and where you landed. I know at times you

couldn't understand it, but I watched you grow and honestly knew the universe had their hand in it

glad to meet you little one tell the naysayers our story has just begun wow that was a lot it's

very powerful i'm glad that you were able to talk to your younger self to embrace yourself and to

grow from your circumstances the words that you said just hit me how basketball was your life and

how it lifted you up and you were able to overcome so much you believed in yourself and i can see

that in your words and in your the way you just looking at us and just the way you read it It was just the chef kiss It was beautiful Thank you I miss holding the old you in our bed You opened a new door with someone who can love you better

I remember they said your mama was too pretty to be your mama. So you attract the baddest of the baddest as if you're casting for the main role

as I grew big a dream to go far but now that I was naked without my mother I had to become the

adult I had to learn to make those dreams come alive so I would say to my younger version of

myself thank you for dreaming it's just so powerful the journey to find yourself

Yes, 1000%. I think it's absolutely amazing that you were able to find a partner and someone who's shown you so much love and kindness and taught you that it does get better

But I just wanted to commend you. As a small child who went through a biological father who was extremely abusive as well, I could relate more than I care to admit
