You were intrigued by words and how the story unfolds, and here is where the rebirth explodes
0:05
You dribble that ball up and down those country roads, a C student, but your intelligence was one
0:10
of a mystery on a verge to unfold. From plays, spelling bees, and advocating for a plethora of
0:15
disabilities, you stood fast on your dreams and carried that mind and ball on your hip
0:20
Entered college, Bowie State on a full basketball scholarship. Of course, bumps and U-turns made
0:25
their mark, but somehow, little one, your journey always had a start. I remember thinking you weren't
0:31
going to make it, riotous living, trying to cope, dabble it and all, partying, drinking and dope
0:37
but little one, that knowledge you never escaped, and that's why I know little Danae was worth the
0:42
wait. Writing you now just to say how proud of you and where you landed. I know at times you
0:47
couldn't understand it, but I watched you grow and honestly knew the universe had their hand in it
0:52
glad to meet you little one tell the naysayers our story has just begun wow that was a lot it's
0:59
very powerful i'm glad that you were able to talk to your younger self to embrace yourself and to
1:05
grow from your circumstances the words that you said just hit me how basketball was your life and
1:13
how it lifted you up and you were able to overcome so much you believed in yourself and i can see
1:18
that in your words and in your the way you just looking at us and just the way you read it It was just the chef kiss It was beautiful Thank you I miss holding the old you in our bed You opened a new door with someone who can love you better
1:33
I remember they said your mama was too pretty to be your mama. So you attract the baddest of the baddest as if you're casting for the main role
1:41
Dizzy spells spell all over the floor because you no longer internalize every single thing anymore
1:47
Now you're racing circles around everyone causing Verda to go. Don't worry, I've gotten the hint, it's also my time to go
1:55
So this piece, was you letting go of and separating from a different version of yourself
2:02
Yes. Extremely creative. I just really like the fact that even though you're letting go a part of yourself and that can be really hard
2:14
you didn't let it deter you from growing and evolving into the person that you are now and I
2:19
I commend you for that so thank you for sharing you will spend much of your life doing beautiful
2:24
things success is yours with each new thing you do you will struggle when something ends it is
2:31
not a failure as each ending marks the beginning each time you fall you will get up dust yourself
2:38
off raising your family will bring so much joy there will be times that your children raise you
2:43
no matter what is going on in your life remember you don need to be perfect to be loved you can achieve whatever you want to achieve and the choices you make will always be the right choice for you Take that trip to Nepal
2:56
Hike the PTC. Ride all the horses and bring your kids. Being a little feral is good for all of you
3:04
Life is to live. Did the younger you ever see yourself being where you are today
3:10
with such peace, with such joy, with such ability to live in the present? I hoped that it would be more moments of exuberance than less moments
3:22
And I really, I guess I just kept reaching for that all the time
3:28
I would say to my older version that to dream was to win
3:32
The role I envisioned while looking up in the stars as a child was the same role I envisioned as I grew older
3:38
I was not I was now not the little girl who had a dream but it became a reality within especially
3:47
as I grew big a dream to go far but now that I was naked without my mother I had to become the
3:54
adult I had to learn to make those dreams come alive so I would say to my younger version of
4:01
myself thank you for dreaming it's just so powerful the journey to find yourself
4:07
and to find yourself like without your mom you know and to find who you are and define your own boundaries So the answers to those questions in your little head right now his name is Dominic
4:22
Buckeye Community School is where? Their names are Bree, Taylor, Katie, and Za
4:28
You will have more than one counselor. You're a mommy to a little boy and you have your very own home
4:34
You're doing good. You have struggles. All at the same time, you are loved
4:38
You are strong. You are worthy. You are kind. You're the best version of yourself at this moment
4:44
And I can't wait to see all the rest of the versions we become. Gently, you at 24
4:49
That is amazing. Do you feel like your life now, maybe in some way or another, is redemption for the pain you had to endure
5:02
Yes, 1000%. I think it's absolutely amazing that you were able to find a partner and someone who's shown you so much love and kindness and taught you that it does get better
5:13
But I just wanted to commend you. As a small child who went through a biological father who was extremely abusive as well, I could relate more than I care to admit
5:26
That's what I said in my comment. But yeah, thank you for sharing your story
5:30
It really touched me a lot
