Trade by Barter in London

for real you know I'm here to make money not to make friends

Alright guys welcome back to the channel

Today is an exciting one. We are in Dorsten Market and we are buying some goods

Now before the use of money, our forefathers used to use a method called trade by barter

This is a system of course where you trade goods and services for other goods and services without the use of money

So you get the point, trade by barter, trading by exchange of goods

So we have a challenge today. I have a shopping list for a meal I'd like to make

sweet potato, plantain, avocado, mushrooms, peppers and onions, beans and tomatoes and vegetables not

tomatoes. So now I'll attempt to trade goods around to get my complete shopping list. So the

first trade of course being with the British pounds. I trade this for some groups then I trade

trade trade trade trade around until I have my complete shopping list

Right Avocados free for a pound apples six for a pound um clementine six for a pound

i think avocado might be the best bet so thank you Mike thank you

how are you doing about trade by bottle? trade by bottle is just a means of exchanging goods for goods

yes and before you were born that's what our before i was born that's what our parents used

to use wow trying to get what they want you have apple i need apple and i have vegetable

so you need vegetable so we exchange you give me your apple because I mean and I

give you vegetable yeah hi I was wondering if I could trade one of my

avocados for some beans or two avocados for some beans I'm just just a little

a bag of beans no no no no we can't use money no we got you let's say currency

doesn't exist yes how can we figure out the value of exchange if without the

use of currency unless I need avocado otherwise I wouldn't give the beans

that's true for the things that I need that's true yes I'm trying to trade my

avocados for a meal so if I give you one avocado can I have one potato okay go

all right so we've gotten some of our ingredients all that's left is mushrooms peppers and vegetables

so I'm going to trade another pound for something that everyone might want to trade with me

and then see if I can get those three right now I'm trying to focus on return on investment

and the onions look like the most I can get for a pound

so let's start trading Trade some of your peppers for my onions

Tomatoes for my onions. Maybe one onion One one one onion Even just one pepper for an onion Thank you so much

I'll take that one. And then I'll give you that one. Thank you so much

Yeah, I don't know if the onions were the best decision. Probably should have gone for peppers or something

But it's been a long day. We've done a lot of trading. The market is closing right now

so people aren't really in the mood to hear trade by barter they're just trying to rush rush get

their sales in before it closes so i mean we've done good today i'm gonna go around get the

remaining ingredients and then we'll see what the meal looks like all right well there you have it

Now if I were to have bought all these items individually It would cost me a whole lot more than it has
