This guy Redmatic, man. I tell you,

salute to him, citizens.

He's inspired many DJs across the world.

I know this. I've seen [music] him

across the world. In the culture of

hip-hop, you know, just to get props

from your heroes or your peers is the is

the ultimate No, no money in the world

can pay for that. Hip-hop was

predominantly black and Latino.

>> Mhm. But if you talk about also on the

West Coast, like a lot of people don't

know that Asians and primarily Filipinos

and Pacific Islanders have been involved

in the culture of hip-hop. I mean,

mostly, you know, whether it be DJing,

B-boying, or graffiti. At the end of the

day, in terms of the culture, if you're

>> it's all about your skills. If you're

dope, you're dope. If you're wack,

you're wack. That's it.

>> If you asked us 10 years ago that the DJ

Junkies were going to open a DJ school,

we would have looked at you crazy.

Right. Cuz, you know, you guys know came

from the from the era where like you

don't show your secrets.

>> That's right. Right? If you're

especially if you're battling and

competing, you only show within your

crew. Mhm. But why is it that the Why is

it in the culture of hip-hop or genre of

the music genre, you know, you see other

genres of music, like rock and roll,

jazz, that they they they give it up to

to their legends, but hip-hop there's a

there's a generation disconnect, right?

You know, like, "Oh, you're you're

you're young head, you're old head." You

know, and in many ways we probably it's

our fault for not sharing the knowledge

and stuff. And then we didn't want to be

known as like the old head, you know,

the old guys on the on the front porch

like, "Get off my porch and stuff like

that." And we want we realized that in

order our culture to survive, you have

to share the knowledge. We have uh um

many students from uh from kids to

adults. 60% of our our students are

women. Yep. Oh, that's amazing.
