Bri Steves Opens Up About Her Healing Journey & New Music! 🎤 | SWAY’S UNIVERSE

0:00
I just wanted to let that
0:01
marinate cuz we are in the midst of a
0:03
full circle moment Heather be yes
0:07
sir I've been following this exceptional
0:11
human being
0:14
manifested personified as an artist by
0:17
way of Philly mhm uh for quite some time
0:22
now last time she was here on this show
0:25
was 2018 that's crazy and we got a
0:28
chance to sit and speak on this show I
0:30
feel like we did MTV as well didn't we
0:32
we did we did MTV TRL I brought her on
0:36
TRL right cuz I was so enamored and
0:39
wanted to support her movement so much
0:42
cuz I always felt like you were a
0:43
multi-dimension dimensional Talent um
0:47
and I believe I was right and so I had a
0:50
chance to follow you along the way you
0:52
and I communicated from time to time via
0:55
text message or so I'll tap in to let
0:58
you know I see you because I still feel
1:00
the same about you sometimes people time
1:03
doesn't happen when they want it to
1:05
happen or how they PL it you know and
1:08
sometimes you may not even realize it
1:10
it's six years ago we saw her but I dare
1:13
say six years later she is so much more
1:16
evolved um right now when she seems
1:20
light you seem just excited you make me
1:23
cry you seem exhilarated you seem
1:26
rejuvenated this is the year of the
1:28
Awakening
1:31
there are there are corridors that are
1:34
happening in in the metaphysical in the
1:37
two dimensional oh you tapped
1:39
in oh we don't even got
1:43
okay you'll be we talk all right so I'm
1:47
understanding let me say that right and
1:50
yes sir I think um that this year will
1:54
be your best year if it hasn't started
1:56
off that way so far I'm watching on your
1:59
social
2:00
media what you're radiating is um
2:03
something that's positive is uplifting
2:06
you know it's enlight enlightening um I
2:09
know you to be a well-rounded artist but
2:11
I also know you to be a ferocious MC as
2:14
well yes I am right and I'm excited
2:17
about your new project on the even
2:19
platform it's TI titled R inbr tape yes
2:23
it is okay you guys could check that out
2:25
we got the one and only Bree Steves has
2:28
returned
2:30
[Music]
2:33
we doing it we doing it for real
2:36
Bri what is making you smile so
2:39
hard mean besides you and your beautiful
2:42
energy um oh thank you thank you hear
2:44
that Mike m that was the perfect answer
2:46
you ain't got to say nothing else
2:48
honestly I'm really just excited to be
2:49
back outside uh I'm a free agent um
2:52
shout out to my attorney got me out of
2:54
that Tena coach she did her thing uh
2:56
yeah you know we got all our rights back
2:58
uh but yeah I'm just decided to share
3:00
this new music this new era that I'm in
3:02
um I'm really just in an era of honestly
3:05
self-accountability records for women
3:07
self accountability records why what
3:10
made you want to go that direction so
3:13
I've been on my healing journey and you
3:15
know as I've made mistakes and as I've
3:19
you know dated people that I'm like man
3:21
like do I keep running to the same
3:22
person maybe it's not them maybe I'm the
3:24
person that has you know an issue and
3:27
maybe I'm the person that needs to heal
3:29
and do better because I looked around at
3:31
my life and I'm like man if I don't like
3:33
something I can change it and I feel
3:35
like right now the industry you know is
3:37
saturated with everybody just just
3:40
disconnected from love you know what I
3:41
mean I don't know when it became cool to
3:43
be toxic when did it become cool to not
3:46
give love to to not be vulnerable to not
3:48
be transparent and I'm hoping with my
3:52
project just telling about my true
3:54
stories of where I was at that maybe
3:55
people can start to heal from that and
3:57
I'm just being honest like man I can I
3:59
cut on here yeah go oh uh well I [ __ ]
4:02
up too um and maybe I was the person
4:04
that had bad [ __ ] management but I
4:06
still want love and I actually want to
4:08
figure it out and do better and I feel
4:09
like that's the conversation that we
4:11
need to have okay I love wants to go
4:13
back to your management company but you
4:15
saw my face cuz it lit up because
4:17
because we have a terminology in the DJ
4:19
world called you know songs you want to
4:21
make sure that you mix records at the
4:23
right BPM uhhuh uh but you just took
4:26
that acronym and made it into bad [ __ ]
4:28
management song my project called called
4:31
bad [ __ ] management oh my gosh I
4:32
haven't heard the project ladies and
4:33
gentlemen look at that BPM but so that's
4:36
taking accountability yes it is because
4:39
usually I own it I'm honest usually it's
4:42
thrown on us when it's toxic or things
4:44
go bad yes it's all about what the man
4:47
did but you know what it is most girls
4:50
lie I don't so that's what I'm on so
4:54
give me an example what is what falls
4:55
under the umbrella of bad [ __ ]
4:58
management
5:00
damn I can't believe in my years decades
5:03
of my life I've been on the radio
5:06
decades I've never got to say that well
5:08
I mean I I've dated all types yeah go
5:11
ahead I've dated all types I've dated
5:12
you know the rich guy that you know
5:15
treated me terribly you know I've dated
5:17
the broke guy that you know actually
5:19
treated me pretty good but he couldn't
5:21
show up the way that I wanted and in my
5:24
experiences that I found it's like one I
5:26
realized the most important thing is
5:28
let's bring back dating people that
5:29
actually like you you know let's not do
5:31
this dating people for oh he got to be
5:33
six foot he got to be this he got to be
5:35
this he got to be this have standards
5:36
yes but date people that actually enjoy
5:38
you for you and I had to look around and
5:40
I realized that I was dating people that
5:45
I shouldn't have been dating and I had
5:46
nobody to blame but myself and most
5:48
women sometimes we lie about it we be
5:50
like all right like I like this guy he
5:52
cute or you know you fall in love with
5:54
somebody for like the toxic reasons and
5:56
then you realize like man do I just keep
5:58
running into the wrong [ __ ] or am I the
6:01
[ __ ] that got bad [ __ ] management and
6:02
I don't think girls is having that
6:04
conversation wow wow Heather what you
6:06
want to
6:07
say I you know I agree I'm Amen in
6:11
everything that just say I am because I
6:14
talked it because it's true and I told
6:16
sway just in like the female Circle part
6:19
of it women lie too much we lie to
6:22
ourselves and we lie to our partners and
6:25
people who we are with about what we
6:27
like and most importantly we lie about
6:30
what we don't like you know you just
6:32
accept things you keep accepting and
6:34
keep going along with the program
6:36
because you following some kind of
6:37
biological clock or because it's a good
6:39
look or because you invested too much
6:41
time or because so it it's the lies I I
6:44
agree with you I didn't want to know
6:45
about the bad [ __ ] management part I
6:48
understand what you said about the lying
6:50
we that the lying has to stop and it's
6:52
and it's mind you it's not about bashing
6:55
you know what I mean I'm not and it's
6:56
not preachy because the my my goal with
6:59
talking about self-ability is so that we
7:02
can get to self love because I feel like
7:05
what's missing is you know we as women
7:08
and I'm sure there are people that are
7:09
way far along in their Journey than me
7:11
but I found that loving myself and
7:13
actually finding out who I am is what's
7:16
going to bring me the person that I
7:18
desire I'm not going to find that if I'm
7:19
not happy and fulfilled myself I'm not
7:21
going to I can't say I love myself if I
7:23
keep making decisions that are bad for
7:25
me I can't say I love myself if I keep
7:27
uh uh having relationships with men that
7:31
don't make any sense and don't even have
7:32
the tools to love me properly facts you
7:34
know so it's like let's bring that back
7:36
choosing situations making decisions
7:38
that actually are for the betterment of
7:40
your spirit and your emotional Soul 100%
7:43
PR Steves I'm loving this man sound
7:45
preachy as hell on no cuz I think
7:48
there's a fine line this this a fine and
7:50
this you're not talking about other you
7:52
ain't telling people what they should
7:53
you're talking about your journey I'm
7:55
talking about yo I [ __ ] up I I'm just
7:57
saying this is my journey you know you
7:59
take it or leave it how you want to you
8:00
know take it on to you but I'm just
8:03
saying I found beauty and I Found Love
8:05
in myself by looking at myself in the
8:08
mirror and being honest with myself and
8:10
you know I want that for everybody I
8:12
want that for every woman that's out
8:13
there that's that wants love that wants
8:15
fulfillment that wants happiness it's
8:16
like you have all the love that you have
8:18
inside of you already when you're around
8:20
people like that the conversation
8:22
changes also like it's it's it's you
8:25
attract different things when you're
8:27
around other healed people and other
8:28
women being truthful other peaceful over
8:31
here it's very peaceful I ain't know
8:33
nobody told me about that it's real
8:35
peaceful we tried to tell you you
8:36
couldn't hear it you making too many bad
8:39
decisions cuz when I was up here in 2018
8:41
I was making a lot of bad decisions you
8:44
know now was just we just looking at you
8:45
okay Bri tell the family hi you know
8:49
what the family I had to I had to learn
8:52
I had to learn but you learned it Mike
8:54
Muse say hi to Brie stev hey Bri St with
8:57
that self- awareness has that changed
8:58
the type of guy that you are now
9:01
interested in dating and how has the
9:03
conversations been uh if you had begun
9:05
the dating process um
9:09
um okay um well yes it has um because I
9:13
think before I'm going be honest you
9:16
know I think before I wasn't even
9:18
focusing on my standards you know what I
9:21
mean like I didn't even really know
9:23
myself enough to know what makes sense
9:26
for me what do I actually need to feel
9:28
love you know um and making sure that
9:30
I'm the person that I'm actually asking
9:32
for somebody to be
9:35
um but yes it has changed I think that
9:38
um my soul and my spirit is open but I
9:43
think that now I make sure to like
9:45
really sus people out make sure that
9:46
they have the tools in order to show up
9:48
for me properly just from getting to
9:50
know myself which I feel like every
9:51
woman should do you know good Bree
9:54
Steves let's talk about it all right
9:57
Lonely with you back out yes colors
10:01
that's the new joint right yes it is yes
10:03
it is shot it in the Color Studio they
10:05
do great work over there in Germany yes
10:07
they do so much fun in Berlin but this
10:09
is a part of the the the next chapter
10:13
right you're independent now can you
10:15
speak about um a lot of folks are now
10:18
starting to understand the business
10:19
better A lot of the deals um that was
10:22
signed years ago were of the times times
10:25
have changed now you're doing a project
10:26
with even which is a relatively new pro
10:29
pro platform that allows artists to
10:32
enjoy the bulk of their revenue right
10:34
yes connect right to your fans connect
10:36
right to your fans similar to Galla what
10:38
Galla music does shout out TOA um talk
10:41
about the process how hard is it to
10:43
detach yourself from a a previously
10:45
signed contract and what was the steps
10:47
that Tanisha had to take and and and
10:50
were they playing
10:52
Fair um well shout out to Tania coats
10:54
you know she she did her thing T I
10:57
apologize um honestly you know I've been
11:00
in a major system and you know it's all
11:03
love for Atlantic you know I have no
11:05
beef with them they helped me out when I
11:07
was getting my start um shout out to
11:09
that top 15 Urban radio hit you know um
11:13
but honestly I feel like jealousy yes
11:16
jealousy yes yes yes um and it was a
11:19
great place for me but I feel like as an
11:23
artist I had to figure out okay what
11:26
works for me and and how can I execute
11:28
my vision and sometimes that's hard to
11:30
do in a major system you know and I feel
11:33
like when you're a free agent you have
11:35
the creative control and you know you
11:37
have your rights you can make a lot of
11:38
decisions that in my opinion um kind of
11:41
Get Lost in Translation when you are at
11:43
a major system so you know maybe I'll go
11:47
back into one I'm not really opposed to
11:49
it it just got to be the right situation
11:51
but I am noticing that most artists you
11:53
kind of able to build your own team and
11:55
kind of do it that way and and I
11:57
actually prefer it that way mhm for me
12:00
for you yeah that number that top 15
12:03
number 15 on the on the Billboard charts
12:06
rarely happens for Independent Artists
12:09
yeah doors that open with major labels
12:12
are no longer available with Independent
12:14
Artists but you know what we seeing a
12:16
lot of people that are doing their thing
12:18
though like look at Tommy Richmond with
12:20
you know billion dollar baby he just
12:22
kind of went up super crazy like it is
12:24
possible you know I think that people
12:26
are starting to wake up and realize like
12:28
you got everything that you need to do
12:30
and now we have the internet so you were
12:31
able to connect with people in a way
12:33
that you couldn't even do you know
12:35
before so yes labels are you know dope
12:39
and they can put gasoline on stuff but
12:41
honestly like do you really need it I
12:43
mean I don't do you feel too I think
12:47
sometimes people sign these major deals
12:50
prematurely like it don't sound like you
12:52
was an artist at that time that was
12:55
ready or should have been signed to a
12:56
major deal I mean I would say that
13:00
things happened for me a little faster
13:02
than I anticipated okay um because I
13:04
felt like I still had a lot of growing
13:06
up to do I was what a senior at Temple
13:09
University and then I got my deal and I
13:11
was like my life just changed overnight
13:13
I'm going on tour with her um coming out
13:15
for Kendrick lar performance Mary J BL
13:19
opening up for her and for real working
13:21
with him working with Missy uh Ferg uh
13:24
Kendrick you name it and I was just like
13:27
I honestly feel like I needed to incub a
13:29
little bit more and find my passion and
13:31
find okay what do I want my vision to be
13:33
and I feel like I got thrust into a
13:35
major system really early where you're
13:37
having all these people throw things at
13:39
you you know do this do this do this and
13:41
it like it can get in the way of if
13:43
you're a baby artist you know what I
13:45
mean like actually honing in on yourself
13:47
cuz artist development is important but
13:49
I'm never mad about things because
13:51
timing is perfect you know you can't
13:53
even predict that and I honestly think I
13:56
was meant to go through the things that
13:57
I went through even like even going in a
14:00
major system in order to be the artist
14:01
that I am today I like that Brie Steves
14:04
the other thing I like that you're not
14:07
doing and not no knock on other artists
14:09
but you're not knocking other artists
14:11
you're not saying I'm looking at all the
14:12
women out here right now with they're
14:14
not doing and you're not doing that
14:16
which no because you you got room to
14:17
love every single one of us you don't
14:19
have to choose you don't have to like oh
14:22
it got to be this or this or we got I
14:23
mean granted it's a competition like it
14:26
is a sport uh but other than that it
14:28
don't got to be no beef I don't got to
14:29
be no shade like I don't have no beef
14:31
with anybody I mind my business stay out
14:32
the way did you have to completely start
14:35
over when it's a situation like that um
14:38
did you find New Management new have
14:41
different people around you change your
14:42
C because to me I'm hearing you're
14:44
healing the entire time you're going
14:46
through all of these things and then you
14:47
have to regroup you know and so was that
14:50
a matter of like finding a new team as
14:52
well and if so how did you do that
14:55
honestly for me it started with uh f
14:59
focusing on the music that I wanted to
15:00
create what's the message that I wanted
15:02
to say um and you know I was still
15:05
working on my upcoming album um called I
15:08
just think it's funny how and I started
15:10
working on that off of my own dime you
15:13
know working with producers I love go
15:15
Grizz uh Soundwave uh Romano Haggler
15:19
naan and I was locked in and you know I
15:22
just started finding people that
15:23
naturally aligned with myself amen you
15:26
know I made a you know not to get too
15:28
deep for them intro but you know I made
15:30
a a a list of like how I wanted my life
15:33
to go and you know and I just actively
15:37
worked on fixing it and I was blessed to
15:40
find you know shout out Damen d dot um
15:42
he's been working with me on the
15:43
management side shout out to n coat
15:45
again you know on the attorney side d
15:47
dot Damian d dot Washington not the D
15:51
dot you think about
15:54
not okay oh okay my bad shout out him
15:56
though that's my man too but uh D she
15:58
said Daman oh D Daman he been in the
16:01
industry for a minute uh he been doing
16:02
his thing behind a lot of people that
16:04
you wouldn't even think um but the
16:06
natural people just kind of came to me
16:09
you know cuz you can feel it like
16:10
anything that's forced anything that's
16:11
not people that's not your tribe it's
16:13
always clear as day and I feel like the
16:16
more spiritual inner work that I did on
16:18
myself the more that I was able to find
16:20
things that were in alignment you know
16:22
for me yeah anybody could do that though
16:24
yeah 100% no but it can be scary
16:27
sometimes for folks to start over you
16:29
know start from scratch and just you
16:31
know for people that's listening and
16:33
that's going to see this conversation
16:34
that we having with you is I'm glad that
16:36
you shared that because people are
16:38
scared to take that step people some of
16:40
their worlds are over when once they're
16:42
not associated with a label or a big
16:44
situation it's like now what no I
16:46
believe in me so period you better that
16:50
a sheit going to stop me what's me for
16:51
me me but people need to hear that yeah
16:54
they need to hear that so thank you for
16:56
sharing of course Brie Steves is here
16:58
we're going to open up the phone lines
16:59
I'm going to play the song again go
17:01

17:24
and dope dope man how's your family uh
17:28
so I mean unfortunately my mom did pass
17:30
away in 21 um but you know she is still
17:33
with me she her energy is still on me
17:35
and crazy enough my uh grandmother
17:38
actually just passed away uh this past
17:40
month I'm sorry to hear that no it's
17:42
cool it's cool you know I'm we we had
17:44
our our in touch conversations and you
17:47
know I was glad to have the time that I
17:48
had you know with my mother with my
17:50
grandmother and I feel like in a weird
17:54
maab way you know death does change
17:57
people you know it if if anything it
18:00
just helped me centering on you know you
18:01
have One Life to Live and you literally
18:04
don't have any time to waste and there's
18:06
nothing that's holding you back but you
18:07
in order to make sure you enjoy your
18:09
life on this Earth yeah so I'm just I'm
18:12
just really deeply spiritual with it MH
18:15
and you take your time give yourself
18:16
Grace when you had those kind of losses
18:19
very much so I lost my grandmother last
18:21
year um and um I had to give myself
18:25
Grace you know what I mean well like you
18:28
you know I put the time in I went every
18:31
month to Oakland to take my grandmother
18:33
on dates every month for 15 years so and
18:36
my grandma I like the casino she liked
18:37
the Cino M mine did too what is that
18:39
about I don't know what does she play
18:41
Slots she she likes Spades and like uh
18:44
Blackjack oh like blackj your
18:46
grandmother was sometimes the slots
18:47
thing I don't I don't really do gambling
18:49
but I was just there was willing her
18:51
around the based on the game she played
18:54
she was an intense Hustler your
18:55
grandmother was a hustler she was yes
18:57
she was so was
18:59
you know what yeah at that that's why we
19:01
got it in US woman you know let's say
19:03
the names three times mine go ahead you
19:05
go your bb Elsie BB Elsie Waters BB
19:09
Jones Elsie Waters B Jones Elsie Waters
19:12
B Jones say your mom's name too Kelly
19:15
Kelly what Kelly Stevenson Kelly
19:17
Stevenson Kelly Stevenson Kelly
19:18
Stevenson Kelly that's how we signify we
19:21
recognize them okay amen beautiful I
19:24
ain't mad at that now thing about Brie
19:27
Steves is she she's multi-dimensional
19:30
she sings she raps she's into fashion
19:34
producing producing yeah yes producing
19:37
songwriting we record ourselves we we we
19:39
in everything we don't always hear about
19:41
the women artists who actually
19:44
produce well you know when I started out
19:46
um I was really inspired by Missy
19:49
Elliott and you know when I studied her
19:51
career I was like man like she does she
19:54
does everything she can she can sing she
19:57
can rap she can produce she can she's a
19:59
jack of all trades and I was like man if
20:01
I want to be in this industry I want to
20:03
be so good that they can't keep me out
20:05
of no rooms you know cuz it's not it's
20:08
not enough just to be like u a pretty
20:11
girl you know what I mean like it
20:13
matters more to me about okay is my
20:15
talent does my work speak for me like
20:17
how does my my my reputation speak for
20:20
me and man I spent like the three grand
20:23
that I had while I was still in college
20:25
for my first car I spent that on uh my
20:27
equipment just getting my speakers
20:29
getting my laptop getting my uh my my
20:32
midi system and getting Logic the crack
20:34
version on my computer and I just
20:36
started oh yeah yeah I got the crack
20:38
version uh crack version of waves 2 and
20:40
you know I just started figuring out how
20:42
to do it you know figuring out how to
20:44
produce how to actually write songs what
20:46
do I want to say what is my tone can I
20:48
sing can I rap do both of it and you
20:51
know in studios that actually really
20:52
helped a lot you know I was able to
20:53
communicate with Engineers you know what
20:56
I wanted um in some cases I was even
20:59
able to engineer myself um but it it
21:01
shows up you know for live performances
21:04
and shows like just having that
21:05
knowledge you know is invaluable to
21:09
helping me with my career in every way I
21:10
just wondered because most in our genres
21:13
of music most of the times it's a man
21:15
producer a male producer and a lot of
21:17
times even for the women it's male
21:19
writers yep you know so what would it be
21:21
like if a woman was the president and
21:24
the you know and the vice president what
21:26
would it be like if well shout out nja
21:28
Charles you know she she write crazy
21:29
records for everybody she's behind all
21:31
the hits uh shout out Wonder Girl um
21:34
she's she's amazing as well um there's
21:37
there's a lot of women in this game that
21:39
actually do put they put they you know
21:42
stepping on people's necks it's just
21:44
time we talk about it more they just
21:45
more you know they were humble yeah
21:47
behind the scenes let's put them let's
21:48
put them out there say their names Nija
21:50
Charles shout out shout out shout out
21:53
Wonder Girl she do her thing as well um
21:56
who are some of the artists that have
21:58
come out since you've been here in the
21:59
past six years that you look at it go
22:01
okay they doing
22:03
it definitely got to shout out uh TI
22:07
wack wack can you get her up here we
22:09
haven't had her up here yet tiar wack is
22:11
cool she dope I would love to have her
22:13
up here she around she around she around
22:15
okay okay um you better hit Johnny see
22:17
what her schedule like okay I put I put
22:19
you the task I'm like yo Bri what you
22:21
going
22:22
get like it's your homie okay go ahead
22:25
TI's dope uh foggy raw he's dope um on
22:28
the album too okay um shout out Joey
22:31
Badass that's my man's uh actually he's
22:35
one of one of the reasons I actually
22:36
inspired me to start rapping too his
22:38
1999 album y that was classic classic uh
22:42
shout out Cena wi Cena wi she's actually
22:45
from uh Portland um and and she rap she
22:48
spit real crazy too um I can go on and
22:52
on in this list okay um you you got what
22:54
is it about the Bay Area that you like
22:57
uh besides guad Oakland in particular
23:01
yeah Oakland well because she done songs
23:04
with Simba and guab Dad both that's
23:07
where I'm from he I got to speak to that
23:09
right they got like a vibe to them
23:11
though like a little I don't know what
23:13
it is tell the world about it I don't
23:14
know what so so I haven't met too many
23:16
you know Bay Area women um I have met a
23:19
lot of Bay Area men and I don't know if
23:21
it's like a it's like a I don't want to
23:24
not saying right but you know it's like
23:26
a like a like a funky little like like
23:28
sweat but they like a they like a little
23:30
nerdy but it's like cool though it's
23:33
like like I oh boy she not talking about
23:36
juice sound like it I'm from Oakland but
23:39
it's like it's like in a in a very like
23:41
like I very strong way the nerd thing is
23:45
really bait okay it's Fool's Gold
23:50
H then you get with them and find out
23:52
wow these dudes got layers of wisdom
23:55
they have that's what I'm saying they
23:57
got so many layers to
23:59
but they actually be like you know what
24:01
it is I feel like people from the bay
24:02
they just not afraid to be themselves
24:04
you know many people are afraid to
24:06
express this is what I like to do like I
24:08
like anime ain't nothing wrong with that
24:10
and the and the you know and the music
24:13
is just got a little like that that West
24:15
Coast kind of feel to it it's so much
24:16
different than East Coast Music but it's
24:18
like a little make you want to kind of
24:20
Bounce right okay yeah what's that let's
24:23
dance okay all right that that I don't
24:26
know if that's ba but that I get what
24:27
you mean it's B
24:31
B motiva Bri this is what I want to do
24:34
when so the project is on the even
24:36
platform yes so that's the arm bre tape
24:38
um I gave my fans my true supporters my
24:40
true day ones um it's a little taster
24:43
from the fulllength project I just think
24:45
it's funny how that they're going to get
24:47
um so they can go on there you want to
24:49
support me directly as the artist you
24:51
know we cutting out the middleman
24:52
definitely go and purchase that tape
24:54
it's on the even platform Link in my bio
24:56
everywhere so you can find that follow
24:57
her at
24:58
Brie Steves it is b r i s t v s on
25:03
everything name your crew members we've
25:05
been having crew members get props now
25:07
because we never get to hear about t
25:10
Team Ty get them on camera I got my boy
25:12
Chris har in here you can't walk in this
25:14
room chis upis model photographer
25:17
extraordinary yo I was going to say
25:18
Chris that's a nice shirt man you look
25:20
like you ready you ready for the camera
25:21
say F yeah okay I'mma bite your whole
25:24
style all right who else we got I I like
25:26
his style I like his y we we got we got
25:28
we got T Co in here again you know my
25:30
attorney you know she'd be doing her
25:32
thing we got Brandon my production
25:35
assistant what we doing man let's win
25:37
this everything right and then we got
25:38
Stephanie Reyes St we see you executive
25:41
assistant okay great damn you got an
25:43
executive assistant I know
25:45
right crazy wow cool okay how have you
25:48
done how have you done because a lot we
25:51
hear a lot of horror stories about
25:52
artist and money what have you learned
25:54
in the past few years invest in real
25:57
estate to uh
25:58
yeah yeah yes invest uh I honestly think
26:01
that it's really important to talk about
26:03
financial literacy especially for black
26:05
people for artists because most of the
26:07
times we make our money through deals
26:10
and advances um which is great but I
26:13
feel like what they're not teaching you
26:14
is okay how do you take that money and
26:15
make that money work for you so that you
26:17
can always support yourself no matter if
26:19
you want to I don't know read make a
26:21
book do a cook show you know do a
26:23
mixtape whatever and I feel like it's
26:25
important to get into investment you
26:28
know stocks portfolios IA accounts you
26:30
know things with high you know return
26:32
and real estate PR she wasn't she wasn't
26:36
talking like this on TRL Mike it's
26:39
talking about that money make for you
26:41
she didn't know I didn't
26:44
know Lear I love the growth and one
26:47
thing about Bri is as much as she's
26:50
grown sometimes people grow and they
26:52
forget where they came from and how they
26:54
got there what was the Catalyst to the
26:57
to the growth you know what was the
26:59
nucleus what was that the nucleus when
27:01
the expansion started to be made the
27:03
expansion that's what it is right I mean
27:06
it is an expansion I don't know if it's
27:08
necessarily like one person that I can
27:10
accredit to this besides you know what I
27:13
will say like I think losing my mom you
27:16
know changed things for me I think you
27:19
know I wasn't really happy like you know
27:21
I I liked the label system but you know
27:24
my previous team you know my my previous
27:27
situation
27:28
I just wasn't I don't feel like I was
27:31
able to be the artist that I really was
27:33
you know and it's no bad blood it's just
27:36
all right man like I got to kind of step
27:38
out on my own and and I'm not afraid of
27:39
doing the work in order to find out who
27:42
I am yeah you know I love it man give it
27:44
up for Brie Steves
27:46
hey Bri you know where you are right now
27:48
