Türkiye: Air and ground crews battle spreading forest fire in Antalya, southern Türkiye.

ANTALYA, TÜRKIYE (SEPTEMBER 8-9, 2026) COMPLETE SHOTLIST TO FOLLOW ANTALYA, TÜRKIYE - SEPTEMBER 8-9: A large forest fire continued to burn in Türkiye’s southern province of Antalya on Wednesday, Sept. 9, as crews fought the blaze from the air and ground. The fire started near the Karaoz neighborhood in Aksu district on the evening of Sept. 7 and spread to neighboring Kepez district under the influence of strong winds. Firefighters worked throughout the night with fire engines and heavy machinery across a wide area covering the Karaoz, Hatipler, Yesilkaraman, Kizilli and Camlica neighborhoods. Aerial firefighting operations resumed at first light. Three aircraft, nine helicopters, 165 firefighting vehicles and more than 1,000 personnel are involved in efforts to bring the blaze under control. Authorities evacuated 254 homes in four neighborhoods in Aksu and Kepez due to the fire, while eight people affected by smoke were taken to hospital. Firefighting operations remain underway.
